Well that's another world cup into the history books. Cheers to all the regulars in the thread I've really enjoyed watching and commenting with you guys.
I'm glad it ended with a good final, I feared that France would win one nil and play like they did against Belgium. Probably the most entertaining World Cup I've seen.
Massive shame this World Cup ended with a referee howler determining the game.
I mean...how anyone who thinks that Perisic intentionally handballed that needs to go and see a doctor. His eyes were shut, was a yard from the player in front, and couldn't physically move his arm away.
How has a ref with such poor judgement been given the World Cup final? He had all the evidence in front of him.
The whole purpose of VAR is to stop ridiculous decisions like that!!
I saw that but only after I'd written mine. I can't remove my comment or you'd have LOLs on a blank post which would be very embarrassing for those who've LOLled.
Ref wasn’t sure shouldn’t be given, he even went back for another look so obviously wasn’t 100%.
Haha think that's clutching at straws a bit. We all have no idea how sure or unsure he was.
I’m shocked anyone thinks that’s a penalty. Not sure what Itv are saying but 4 pundits on bbc are pretty clear. There’ll be 5 penalties in every game soon.
I think it's a 50/50 call. Not enough to overturn whatever the on field ref's original decision was.
I said at the time that it was a close one. Seen then given, but the fact that the ref looked , walked away and then had another look was dramatic even if the Referee was an ex actor. He was a bit like Graham Poll on acid.
Not just on CL but on social media generally I do find the comments strange about teams like France and Croatia. They were the best two teams and always did enough to win games. Only in The world cup in 1970 did one team dominate every match and even Brazil curtailed their attacking play because they respected England and were happy with the odd goal win.
France were the kings of game management but would strike with deadly intent after periods of defensive play.
I gave Croatia credit from the group games even though France were my pick from the start and just knew they wouldn't freeze in two finals in a row.
Great world cup where the cream rose to the top. Vive la France, Long live the Republic.

I'll give you the first sentence but you can fuck right off with the second.

Long live the Republic.
Decent final too with both sides playing well albeit France helped by a couple of contentious decisions.
Well played Le Tiss, well played Sir!
