  • Waiting for the ITV love in now. Germany look bang average. Only teams I've seen that could trouble us are Croatia and Spain.
  • They'll probably make it out of the group now (they will beat the Koreans) and Sweden might well beat Mexico now they need a win.

    Could go to goal difference.

1938 was the last time they failed to get out the group ( they took that badly)
40 years since Sweden have beaten Germany.
History is happening before our very eyes.
I refuse to write off Germany because I have never seen them fail.

    Good H/T shout Sam.

  • You just knew straight away when the idiot scythed down the winger they were going to score.

And so the stage is set for them to knock us out on penalties in a couple of weeks.

They ain't won the group yet a point for Mexico will do

Germany and Sweden have the same GD now though so you'd expect Germany to batter South Korea
  • What happens if Germany and Sweden both win the last game? Is it done on goal difference or head to head between them and Mexico.

Croatia have never worried me... Only time they've bettered us was when McClaren pissed around with his tactics

Goal Difference first yet if Germany and Sweden win 1-0 then they'll all have the same GD and all have better head2heads against each other... i.e.

    Mexico better Germany
    Germany better Sweden
    Sweden better Mexico

Means they'd then go to Fair Play record and seeing that Germany have the sole red card in the Group, that'll surely count against them
  • I haven't seen much of Timo Werner, but based on what I have seen I'm astonished that he's the best striker Germany can produce. Did they have some injuries in that position that has resulted in him starting?

    First goal difference, goals scored,

then points in games between teams involved (which would all be the same)

then it goes to goal difference in those matches, goals scored in those matches and finally fair play points.
  • Kroos is key for this mob.
Stop him and I reckon you'd have a pretty good chance of getting on top.

    GD first

I expect Mexico to beat Sweden now, they can't afford to rest too many players now as if Sweden beat them 2-0 they'll go above them, and Sweden must be mentally destroyed

The first tiebreaker should be the least amount of pratfalls.
  • imagine if that red card comes into play though?
  • Kruse makes up for his error with that goal after giving the ball away for Sweden’s goal. Even when they have a bang average first half they still find a way to get back in it.
  • Germany were poor 1st half.

    Utter rubbish by Gary Neville,
Germany were excellent 2nd half and could have scored 4 or 5.

Despite Boateng having a mare, they were
totally dominate at the end with 10 men.

Yep that’s the Swedes out for me
  • I think Keane made a valid point. If you own 650 pairs of shoes you are not right in the head.
  • A fair number of crucial late winners in Fergie time this WC

Uruguay, Iran, England, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany all score in the 89th minute or later

He was top scorer in ConFed Cup
Has 34 goals in 63 games for RedBull Leipzig
  • If Brazil win their Group and Germany do come second in theirs it means one thing...

We need to let Belgium batter us 10-0 as means we'll get second and so avoid Brazil or Germany (2nd Round tie) in the Quarter Finals
  • I would not bet against that goal and that result taking them all the way to be world champions

Belgium's superior goal difference and goals scored means a draw would be fine for us also (unless we beat Panama 6-0 tomorrow!)

13 in 32 league games this season is underwhelming.
  • Why only have 2 in the wall?
Stick a 3rd one in there and removes that shot from the equation
  • Evra is more animated in his farewell speech than he has been all week!
  • calm down Patrice

Especially as Germany were one down in players anyway
  • Said it earlier; Miroslav Klose is going to be a tough player for Germany to replace

Mario Gomez hasn't even produced the goods when needed and doesnt look like there is anyone to really rival Werner
