Disappointed with his decision more than anything to be honest.
He would have got a round of applause from me when he returned to The Valley playing for another side.
Now I'll just boo him on his first touch and I'll then forget he's on the pitch and carry on supporting those players who are playing for Charlton.
He'll just be yet another footballer who my missus will get pissed off with when I say "ex Charlton" whenever they appear on TV.

He’s been a great player for us and I don’t begrudge him moving on after the two offers he’s been given by us. I would have liked him to play out the season but get it.
How many of us would risk a big payday when the option to not work (and still be paid) is on the table?0 -

Bowyer explained the absence of Taylor, Solly and Davis. He said: “I asked all the players who was willing to play the remainder of the nine games. Obviously there are quite a few out of contract on June 30th and those three said that they won’t play. Chris Solly, obviously his contract is up, he’s worried about getting injured. Lyle is obviously worried about injuries and David Davis has said that London, with the virus, is dangerous and he doesn’t want to come down here. Everyone has got their own reasons. I do understand them to a certain point.
“Chris Solly has been an absolute pleasure to work with in my two years in charge. There is no fuss with him, he just comes out and trains hard every time. To give the amount of time that he has given to this football club, he deserves praise. That doesn’t happen these days. He’s been a credit to the club, he’s come through the club, he’s given 11 years, I think, to Charlton and that shouldn’t be forgotten.
“With Lyle, look what he’s brought in his two years. The good moments, he’s brought a lot of that. If it wasn’t for Lyle’s goals last season we wouldn’t be in the Championship. I know it is difficult for everyone, and no-one more than me, it is difficult to grasp what’s going on but he’s thinking of his career, so let’s not forget all the help he has given us. Even this season, before he got injured, he scored five in six and helped us win a lot of games and when he came back from injury, there was a goal at Forest, he had a lot of good moments in a short space of time. We’ll all be disappointed because they aren’t going to play now but they’ve also had some good moments too.”

How many games will he miss while in contract...just the potential one I suppose? A real shame but not unusual in football. He's been messed around a fair bit and we as fans feel we've been messed around with an injury while away from us via Ebbsfleet!0

Depressed by the posts up to & including page 104 so gave up.
I am gutted by Lyle's decision but, unless we've heard directly from him since I capitulated, there are 2 sides to every story ( not that I'm saying Bow is wrong in what he's stated)
The positive in all this is, let's win some points & stay in the Championship DESPITE not having the services of our main striker.

There must be many players up and down the country coming to the end of their contracts and looking for a move to a bigger club, but i don't suppose all of them have decided to down tools and stop playing just when their club needs them. I appreciate what he's done since he's been with us and certainly don't begrudge him a move at the end of the season, but this isn't the way to behave in my view and inevitably leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.15

I certainly agree that he would never be a pushover for an agent. And I am sure that he made up his mind to leave in the summer, during the Jan window. But that wouldn't stop his agent whispering in his ear... "club's a basket case, Lyle...look at that crap new offer Southall made you...remember that injury last autumn, Lyle.." etc. I've also heard it said that his agent has an even higher arsehole quotient that the average one, and might not have accurately conveyed the details of the Charlton offer to Taylor. But I'm not sure how reliable that is. I would though, love to know what @nth_london_addick thinks/has heard...AFKABartram said:

Such a shame this situation. For me, Taylor could have sealed himself a place in Charlton folklore by seeing out the season, perhaps scoring a couple of goals to keep us up and left with our eternal gratitude. Now, despite what he has done for our club and the rapport he built with us supporters, I’ll primarily remember him as being the player who fucked us off when we needed him most.6

I suspect it is different with Solly. He has probably has been told he won't get a new contract and if so would understandably be pissed off with that. You could undersatnding taking the view that loyalty works both ways. Again, football is a hard business. Nothing should detract from his contribution and to be fair, I am grateful to Taylor for his too.2

He could, of course, have trained to get his fitness, been picked and then walked through the last couple of games before signing elsewhere. At least he is being honest and giving Bowyer the chance to field someone who will really try for the club in its' hour of need.2

If you put yourself in his shoes. He's been underpaid for a long time, has one last contract until he has to re-train and find something else to do with his life. I get the emotional aspect of it but I think calling him a dickhead, a sewer rat and telling him to fuck off is a little unwarranted.Read through a lot of bollox and @Leeds_Addick has nailed it. Although arguably Lyle could do with growing a pair, at least for 3 games anyway.3 -

So,in march 2018 I took my 7 year old son to Peterborough away. We lost 4-1 with the likes of Magennis and zyro up front. Why do you support Charlton dad? They are Rubbish. What could I say,he was right. We need a striker who can score goals dad. Somehow,Bowyer got us into the playoffs but due to lack of firepower we lost to Shrewsbury. Then came the summer, and we signed Lyle Taylor from Wimbledon and I must admit I'd never really heard of him. But after the first few games,we knew we had a striker on our hands and there started my sons love of Charlton. He knew that when we now played,we had a striker who would put the ball in the net more often than not. He's now nine and a pretty good footballer himself,so he knows a good player when he sees one. He was so happy this morning when I told him that the championship would be restarting soon. But he will be absolutely gutted when I tell him that his first true Hero at Charlton is refusing to play the remainder of the season. It will be just like having Magennis and zyro back up front and that lack of firepower will in my opinion send us down. So Lyle... if you are reading this,make one little boy and and thousands of other addicks happy by playing out the season and becoming a true Charlton hero by firing us to safety.2
