From the press conference, Lyle came on on Tuesday to say his goodbyes...
Reported in at least one of the Wednesday tabloids, apparently: Taylor was "applauded out" by his former team-mates.

Hmm.  I'm glad that we fans take a rather different view of it all.
If true, then perhaps it shows that the players, understanding his position, are able to take a mature, detached view on his decision.

Yes, I'm.sure all the tabloid hacks were milling around Sparrows Lane earlier this week just to catch a glimpse of some yellow tufty-haired weasel.

I can see that most of his team mates would wish him well........but I dont see them chairing him out to his motor.

I’m not ITK, but have been told he has signed for rangers
I wondered if it'd have been Rangers. He will shine there.

Perhaps my hint was too subtle.
Come on, people share the knowledge
No, your hint wasn't too subtle, it's just everyone else is abiding by the mods' request not to post details of people's personal information on the forum without their permission, for which I thank them.

Yes, but how did it really go down?

    One hand clapping?

If we go down Taylor will never be forgiven. I understand that he’s worked hard for this one big payday, but he talks about clubs that have released him and clubs that didn’t want him around. Look how he treats one that does.
If we stay up he wont be forgiven either.
He could have been a legend at a top club.
He may have got a coaching / management career here if so.

Now he’ll just be forgotten by everybody.

Annoyingly he won’t be forgotten though will he?

Players who had nowhere near as much influence or profile at the club like Tony Watt still get brought up every few weeks on Charlton Life, along with a number of others.

Taylor’s every single movement in football will be brought up by a number of Charlton fans because that bitterness and intrigue will always be there.

I got fed up with Watt in the end, no interest, no effort, not bothered about him.

easily readily found on zoopla if you know the area he lives in, nice house but he’s very mininimalist isn’t he
I dont believe you know what area he lives in...come on, prove it
All I knew was Kent but easy to find once you keyed £650K in to search and looked for a house featuring football trophies in the bedroom!

Is it just me, but I assumed he would have a much more expensive / better gaff than that?

Its a nice family home - but it’s not like he lives in a million pound house. Maybe puts into perspective what some of our players are on - we have discussed on this board before but £10k a week would be well wide of the mark by the looks

Until he joined us the highlight of his career was that he was an 18 goal a season Wimbledon player!  I doubt that many average league 1 and 2 players live in bigger.

he might be living there mortgage free which isn’t a bad position to be in at  the age of 30

Difficult to know really but suspect quite a few Championship/League 1 level players may live in houses of this value and lower. Didn't like the lack of privacy in the garden with a neighbour's first floor window looking right down on it.

The only time I ever had a footballer as a near neighbour was back in the 80s in Aberdeen when Jim Leighton, the Aberdeen goalie (later of Man Utd) lived behind me on a new development just across from Westhill golf course.

Don't like the garden, but that's a bloody nice house for someone who's rattled around lower league clubs and had THREE years at supporter owned AFC Wimbledon before he joined us.

I scanned down and clicked some that I thought might attract a 30 year old footballer. It was fourth time lucky.

Given the current bad feeling towards him, you don't see the issue with people pointing out where he lives? Don't be daft.

I agree, but once the price was revealed it effectively gave it away anyway

I think that horse has bolted. It's for sale on a public website (in fact its a featured property). The price, approximate location and bedroom table ornamentation are known. It would take anyone with intent and half a brain about 2 mins to find it....

Anyway, if he was any good, he'd have a more tasteful house like this one:-

  • Yes it's lacking personality, but it's exactly the kind of place where I'd expect a young-ish single (?) footballer to live. I like it, I think it's a nice house.

The fact that he only moved in last year indicates that he expected to stay, at least in the London area if not with us.

Having seen it I'm surprised anyone would  want to live there. Not exactly millionaires
row & only a stone's throw from some real dodgy areas.

For £650k you could get a nice gaff in Bromley or surrounding areas. Maybe only 3 or 4 bedrooms but much better amenities and local services.
