The 3 games he was contracted for we won 2 and drew 1. That's as good as that could have been expected even with Taylor.
Blaming him for not playing in games he wasn't even contracted for is just bizarre. He'd have been a f**king idiot to extend his contract for the 7 games.
There's an actual conmen and thieves involved at the club driving around in range rovers and each others fees they haven't earnt that vastly outweigh any sum of money involved in Taylor's contract. Let's stick to bashing that lot rather than a guy who was vital in getting us promoted and even us having a chance to stay in this division and ALWAYS gave his all when on the pitch, shall we?!
He's been honest about the transfer saga last summer and about the contract negotiations over the past 12 months in his interviews.
Nothing positive can come out of this thread, but have fun, I guess.
Can't argue with this reasonable post but...
it's not unreasonable to blame Taylor when his not honouring his contract, and not extending it for 3 weeks, has cost us relegation, without doubt. He has let down his friends, colleagues and fans. While there have been bigger villains this season, it's the kids in Lyle wigs at Wembley last year that I feel sorry for. Hero to less than zero.
I know it's a short career, but that doesn't make it acceptable or ethical to sell people down the river.
The thing that does it most for me is the fact he was out for so long and continued to get paid and then refuses to play. i hope he wasn't given his wages during this time
Jude Bellingham came on as a sub for Birmingham, crossed the ball into the box for their equaliser against us, then flew to Germany the next day and his transfer to Dortmund was announced. That’s being a true professional.

To be fair, amateurs could also put the ball into our box resulting in a goal
In an increasingly rare moment of positivity, let's assume that football below the premium loog will commence a 2020/21 season some time, perhaps as soon as September. If in the next couple of seasons Lyle Taylor returns to The Valley (wherever Charlton's 'home' ground might be) don't waste your breath on booing or barracking him. We saw against Luton what all that attention does to him, the player. Let's not give his gargantuan ego the oxygen of publicity, he's now just a footnote* in two of Charlton's most remarkable seasons. Remarkable for much bigger and more important reasons than one narcissist striker. Save your energies for positive projects. * a footnote who scored a few goals to be fair.

Says a lot when as a 30 year old you’re less mature than a 17 year old.
Clearly doesn't give a fuck about the club or us fans, but imagine being such a low-level of c*** that you can just turn your back on your mates in their time of need.
Simple fact is had we scored 1 more goal in 7 out of the last 9 games we would have stayed up. Taylor got injured doing his own vanity project in Montserrat, got paid through the winter to do nothing then left when he was needed the most. The wankers running the club are the biggest culprits for sure, but Taylor was the straw that broke the camel's back, unforgivable.
I’ve been thinking and have a different view. Taylor acts cocky and brash but does he suffer from confidence issues and uses the cockiness to hide it.
If he only scored 1-2 in the last 9, would interested clubs look elsewhere, thus the dream move is gone. As a result, hide behind the injury comment and not play.

You are right of course, but the situations are fairly different.
Bellingham is a born and bred Birmingham fan, no way he wasn't going to play to help his club stay up. Taylor doesn't even like football, never mind caring about Charlton.
Was anyone else expecting this "dream move" to be a done deal as soon as his actual contract expired and he left?
The longer it drags out the longer I hope that nothing happens
Remember seeing a BBC article recently talking to Joel Lynch (ex-Sunderland player) who got released this season due to COVID, he was saying how quick luck can change as he'd turned down a two year deal thinking that something better would show up

Bellingham also has another 20 years to earn his money from football. Lyle Taylor has one good contract left in him.
He’s prolly trying to be diplomatic, he announces anything at any point everyone will be crying imagine the day after we’re relegated he’s seen smiling and waving around a Glasgow Rangers shirt, the tears would flood the world . so the further away from our relegation day the better but whatever day it is his selfish twatness will be rightly blamed as a massive part of our relegation

Maybe the couple of clubs who may have been seriously interested have gone off the idea on moral grounds.

On the other hand, the career ending injury that Taylor supposedly fears could have happened to Bellingham, and his footballing life would have been over before it started.
Had enough of it last year with their fans on twitter gloating that they're better than us and are stealing our players
Unfortunately they're too thick to realise that if they were as big as they claim they'd be signing bigger players and not ones few have heard from outside of SE7

Highly unlikely but would be refreshing
I can't imagine being a player or coach and welcoming Taylor into the team knowing what he did to his last bunch of teammates. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

My name is LT.
I don't really enjoy my job that much. So I don't bother doing it.
Which is strange...as my job is a dream for a lot of people.
I can't be bothered to play games and score goals.
Just gimme some dam money
" ......which will see him move to the The Den on a 4 year deal worth up to £80,000 per week. #cafc #Millwall
Outside chance it might be fake news though.
Wouldn't have posted otherwise.

He's been linked with Glasgow Rangers before and just seen that Morelos is lined up for a move to Lille.
