Why would Taylor accept an offer from Duchatelet when we are about to be taken over by a middle East Company. ?
Why would Duchatelet offer Taylor a new contract when he won't be here to pay it ?
Why when Lyle Taylor continued to play well in August despite missing out on a good deal at Brentford are some folk on here disrespected him ?
I understand the EFL being diligent on this take over but each day longer it takes could be a disaster for Cafc chances of staying in the championship.
If Cawley believes the offer from ESI will be similar (why ) then we better prepare for the worse because we won't find a like for like replacement for Lyle in a January window. Only in the summer if still in Championship.
Ps. I heard Lyle say he doesn't watch football then a while after he said he would be a honest pundit if he got a TV gig !

Judging by some of the current pundits, I doubt any of them actually watch football 😳

Is there any confirmation that this isn’t a rehash of the contract that was offered in the summer by Roland? Is it definitely a new ‘recent’ contract offer?

Is that not the strangest aspect of this?
Agree that is the strangest thing and don't understand why Duchatelet is offering a contract now to Lyle ?
house analogy: When you are about to give the keys to the new owner you wouldn't convert the loft in the weeks before !

It was offered around tbe time of his injury or at least that was when I heard about it. A big increase on what he was on but below what was suggested as the Brentford offer. Still someway short of what his agent thinks he can get. I no nothing about the lenghth of contract offered.
IF Lyle is offered a good but not great contract, he may stay. On the other hand if he is offered a great contract and signs for a three year deal etc, iF we sell him on in 6 months surely all of the money paid out would be recouped, or am I naive about the money involved.
He may well find that what he was offered by Brentford in the summer isn't now on the table......so he might have to take less from them (or anyone)
FWIW I think the RD deal was offered months ago & Taylor is obviously waiting to see what ESI will offer. It may well be that they wont want to rock the boat with other players & may not offer the millions he is after......but they have said it's their 2nd priority after signing LB on a new one so we'll just have wait & see.
Gave everything for the shirt last season and this until he was injured . Don't care what he does off the pitch to be honest . Nearly thirty , I wouldn't begrudge him a big money move .
We just need to offer him what Brentford did, or put a price on his head of (say) £5m if he does not sign.
January is a great time to sell a striker if a club is there or there about. Say 4th in the league.
Hey, like Brentford!
I would like him to stay because he is a good striker and fits the way we play. If he really wants out it must be a good price so we can afford his replacement.
We will be building for the future so I will cling to that. I will still be gutted.
Just sell him now if he won’t sign, don’t need a half arsed 2nd half of the season while we are struggling to stay up. Great player for us last season and the first 6 weeks of this one but he’ll be a distant memory if a few years when we are going for promotion to the premier league. Won’t blame him if a pay day in Scotland has turned him, he’ll bang goals there too for fun.
Ive long held a view that as a fanbase we don’t collectively sit comfortably with ‘heroes’. There’s always a bit of an undercurrent there that when they get elevated to that status by some, others will be waiting to bring them back down as quickly as possible.
Success brings demand and dilemmas. There’s clearly some wrangling going on behind the scenes and we are in a no mans land at the moment. This next contract is Taylor's career defining one and from an individual point of view, he has to choose the right one.
A pre-takeover Charlton one won't be it, will it?
What stands out to me is why did Bowyer bring this to the fore yesterday?
There must have been an agenda and reason for doing so. Is it to Taylor or is it to the potential owners? i'm just not clear what it is.

Give over, I am 100% that if Lyle does not leave whether happy or not would give 100%. A lot of this talk is just whispers and assumptions, see how it plays out, people are so quick to jump on players back without knowing sweet FA. This thread is getting a bit tedious now, not quite twitter level but boring.

Just expressing an opinion on an Internet forum, if this thread is tedious stay away. I’m sure he would give 100%, but his mind would certainly be thinking about the 5 X increase in wages that he deserves ... it’s human nature
Richard Cawley: Just to clarify on Lyle Taylor contract story that I did. This wasn't from the press conference - that's why it wasn't reported widely. I spoke to LB on the phone. Some people seem to think they are old quotes - they weren't.
Even if I was desperate to stay I would turn down Rollys offer, with new owners just round the corner I would have nothing to lose as that offer will remain on the table and could get better. What surprises me is that this “good offer” was not made a lot earlier. Just before the January window is strange - unless new owners are underwriting it?
Taylor may have ambitions to play in the Premiership, if so, a move to (say) West Brom would be more attractive than us. Rangers are just hoping to pick up another good player for nothing and I do not see him going there as there will be better offers, but I could see a Watford, Southampton or even Crystal Palace being interested.
All in all, waiting to see what offers come in is best for Taylor.
What about us? New owners will not be planning on a relegation so it is far from certain that Taylor will be sold anyway. Playing hard ball, whatever you think about player power, can be effective. Firstly it means that a proper fee will be required. Secondly it puts pressure on the player with a load of what if’s - serious injury being one. He will still need to put a shift in as he has to maintain the interest and his worth.
Bow making it public suggests to me that he knows Taylor wants out and his agent will no doubt be aware of offers. If we are a richer club by January, I just hope we make them pay good money for him.

Rich Cawley knew what Lyle was tweeting on the subject wasn't true, so he put it to Lee Bowyer to see if he wanted to rebut it. He did.
He's a hundred percenter on the pitch every game. Everyone who's met him says what a great guy he is. But he appears to be broadcasting porkies and being disruptive to the club.

If someone was looking to engineer a move, then this might be a good way to go about it.
It's disappointing cause it's making Lyle come across quite dishonest/two faced. He seems like a proper good bloke in interviews and his commitment when he plays can't be questioned. Really dislike this side to him on social media
When he does go , and he looks desperate to ,I hope someone advises him to stay off social media . A new set of fans might not be so keen on his wind ups not to mention the stick he’s going to get from some of our fans .

No mention of this in the quotes from LB’s press conference today.
