Up and coming British Snowboarder Ellie Soutter has passed away on her 18th birthday. My Mrs' bestie's son has been involved in the same training camps as Ellie and, going by the link at the bottom of the announcement, it looks like she may have taken her own life, which is the reason I thought it was worth a thread.

RIP. So sad.
I know aprobably a different scenario but I watched the BBC film 'killed by my debt' the other night. So so sad. Such pressures on youngsters to fit in and try and make a life for themselves these days.4 -
bloody hell. RIP0

Her fathers statement breaks your heart.

How dreadfully sad. RIP0

So sad, really talented young girl that had a huge future ahead of her.
Can only think if she has taken her own life, that it is the pressures involved in stepping up from junior to senior level of competition.
Rest Peacefully.0 -

Absolutely shocking, tragic news, thoughts are with the family.
We need more help for people with mental health problems.

Unbelievably sad. She’s at peace now but how her parents can ever recover I’ll never knowi_b_b_o_r_g said:

I'll reiterate this. One missed camp would not have ruled her out of all competition.Dazzler21 said:So sad, really talented young girl that had a huge future ahead of her.

I feel so sorry for her, those like her and her family.0 -
Very sad - easy to get things out of perspective when you're young. Terrible for the parents.0
