@PaddyP17 Can you perhaps reassure those on Reddit that London tap water is perfectly safe, having - on average - been purified by 7 sets of kidneys before reaching the capital (including mine, as I live upstream in Berkshire!) However there are reasons of convenience and taste why bottled water may be preferred.
In truth, this is just one symptom of a much wider malaise at Charlton - but one which is relatively easy to highlight to the wider public.
Why do CARD insist on using name rather than writing "the owner" as the club do?
Because he doesn't want his name associated with failure?
Before you wooosh! me, @Henry Irving , you have given me an idea.
We had a campaign of including the phrase "Katrien Meire is an incompetent CEO" in posts, to increase her exposure as such on google. We are pretty sure she had to do several "clean-ups" of her image as a consequence of this.
How about another, similar campaign to include the phrase "Roland Duchatelet is an incompetent football club owner" in as many posts on here and in social media, or comments to press articles, as possible? Just another bit of acupuncture....
If the main concern of the club is the environment and recycling then I don't understand why the policy is only aimed at a certain group?
It's bollocks and just spin from the smarmy PR mooks paid to paper over the catastrophic ownership and mismanagement. It's got sweet fa to do with environmental initiatives...that's merely an incidental thing that has been positioned as the driver behind it. As you say if football clubs truly wanted to do it they could. Coincidental how both environmental drives referenced have cost saving benefits attached.
I really hope the PR slimeballs are content in their work of aiding and abetting the destruction of a 113 year old club by supporting this regime and undermining fans trying to highlight the destruction. Wankers
I think it is sad that while the fans of the 91 other football league clubs are busy speculating on who may be their big name signing before the transfer window closes, Addicks are reduced to debating the relative merits of tap water v bottled water.
And why? The root cause is because Roland Duchatelet is an incompetent football club owner, who is totally penny wise and pound foolish.
How on earth he made a success of his microelectronics business is a total mystery to me; I can only assume he has senior staff who have good business brains and run it for him.
If there was the slightest shred of truth in it being an environmental issue, the club would have publicized it as such when the decision was made. They'd want to use the club's reach to persuade fans to avoid using plastic bottles, the number of fans they could influence would have a far greater environmental impact than a handful of players. Of course, they didn't do that because it was just a lie they made up when they realised they were on the back foot.
In the heatwave of the summer of 1976, with impeccable timing the government appointed a minister for drought...and it didn’t stop raining after that.
In the heatwave of the summer of 2018, with impeccable timing CARD decides to invest in 100 bottles of water for the the youth team...and the rest is history, as is the dry weather going by today’s non-stop downpour...CARD out...
Respect to CARD. All hail to those behind this initiative, its implementation, publicising and last but not least funding by all those generous Addicks out there.

Fact is, a member of staff was asked to save money which ever way he can. He wasn't asked to green up The Valley.
“The club looked at the spend on plastic water bottles as part of a current cost analysis process.
“The decision was made that given the high wastage and the environmental impact of plastic bottles the club would be better served providing water in other ways. “The club provides fresh water at the training ground, the first team have individual refillable bottles and the U23s and U18s are also provided with refillable bottles.
“The solution has saved costs, reduced wastage and has environmental benefits.
“This is not the only way the club are saving money by becoming more environmentally friendly. In June, the club’s electricity consumption was cut by 11% and in July by 29%.
“The water sent to the training ground won’t be wasted and the plastic bottles the water came in will be recycled.”
Of course, if the club was a decent, valued enterprise and had anyone even vaguely competent at their job, or indeed anyone at all really, they'd have punted around for an official club water supplier to dump shed loads of the stuff on them as a freebie.

In the past 18 month's or so i have been unhappy at CARD action's/lack of. So have directed my energy to the ROT party.
However this is top drawer, well done again and hope to see more initiative's. Perhaps in Belgium?
