  • Why do CARD insist on using Roland Duchatelet's name rather than writing "the owner" as the club do?

  • It's nice to have a dig at Roland but it would have been better to provide re-useable water bottles than bottles of water.

No point as they already have those and a tap to fill them from.
  • Well done CARD for this imaginative idea.

In the past 18 month's or so i have been unhappy at CARD action's/lack of. So have directed my energy to the ROT party.

However this is top drawer, well done again and hope to see more initiative's. Perhaps in Belgium?

  • I noticed that Makro were selling a pack of 24 bottles for 3.94 last month. That works out about .164p a bottle. Skinflint.

Respect to CARD. All hail to those behind this initiative, its implementation, publicising and last but not least funding by all those generous Addicks out there.

  • Late to the party as usual but what a simple but pertinent way to gain publicity for the protests against Roland Rat !

Well done, CARD , and all who sail in you !

Someone ought to mention to our new Eco friendly club about that bloody great big car the COO drives about in.

Absolutely thrilled to tell you that GM travels everywhere by train.

    Take that, NLA!

If there was the slightest shred of truth in it being an environmental issue, the club would have publicized it as such when the decision was made. They'd want to use the club's reach to persuade fans to avoid using plastic bottles, the number of fans they could influence would have a far greater environmental impact than a handful of players. Of course, they didn't do that because it was just a lie they made up when they realised they were on the back foot.

Fact is, a member of staff was asked to save money which ever way he can. He wasn't asked to green up The Valley.

“The club looked at the spend on plastic water bottles as part of a current cost analysis process.

“The decision was made that given the high wastage and the environmental impact of plastic bottles the club would be better served providing water in other ways. “The club provides fresh water at the training ground, the first team have individual refillable bottles and the U23s and U18s are also provided with refillable bottles.

“The solution has saved costs, reduced wastage and has environmental benefits.

“This is not the only way the club are saving money by becoming more environmentally friendly. In June, the club’s electricity consumption was cut by 11% and in July by 29%.

“The water sent to the training ground won’t be wasted and the plastic bottles the water came in will be recycled.”
Of course, if the club was a decent, valued enterprise and had anyone even vaguely competent at their job, or indeed anyone at all really, they'd have punted around for an official club water supplier to dump shed loads of the stuff on them as a freebie.
