Slightly strange that it was Jacko doing the after match comments, if Bowyer was there
did anyone actually see LB during or after the game ?? Might have travelled with them & then went off scouting.....lots of other games on tonight. That pic shows an empty stadium so could have been at 6pm
I doubt it.......but just wanted to add to the conspiracy theories.....
Afraid my post match comments will be short & sweet this morning, partly due to the late hour and partly because I honestly can't remember too many details about the match.
No, nothing to do with consumption of something white & bubbly but more with the fact that I couldn't recognise more than 3 or 4 players on the pitch- Ajose, Marshall, Phillips & Anfernee being the exceptions.
However, to sum up the 90+ minutes a much used phrase comes to mind: men versus boys.
Someone told us that the Franchise had basically fielded their first team and our young 'uns found it tough at times to compete understandably. But they were definitely not embarrassed, regardless of the score, especially in midfield where the ball was played around with growing confidence.
On the whole, the lads held their own , especially in the 2nd half and at times, had the better of the home side. The first 2 goals were very decent, with the first a result of our defence being caught cold and the second being a bit special.
Their third at the far end of the nearly empty ground looked the result of a ball played on the ground across our goal from the right, that may well have been deflected in....looked a softish one anyway.
All in all, a game where some lessons would have been learned & the experience a useful, if painful one.
But, as I'm sure others have stated, we don't need the distraction of this Cup considering the situation we currently find ourselves in. Injuries to any of our first choice players would have seriously affected upcoming games in the league with the paucity of our current squad. This is what we are reduced to thanks to the Rat.
We travelled more in hope & interest than confidence but not too disappointed on the whole. We don't have many opportunities to watch our future stars so this was a good opportunity.
One thing we did learn was that a certain Mr Ajose is unlikely to be lacing his boots again for the first team any time soon...
Now we can fully concentrate on the Checkatrade EFL trophy , where if we progress far enough we might be able to challenge Premiership Crystal Palace U-23s for a place at Wembley , heady times
Wondering what the source was for Bowyer not being there. Seemed someone was intent on stirring the pot and countless people fell for it.
On the match thread paulie must've said about 6 times that Euell and Jackson were taking the side, so from that people assumed Bowyer wasn't there at all.
I would not be surprised, if Lee walks away from this shambles, if he is not allowed to bring in some more loan players and is not made permanent manager.

It’s not a shambles, it’s football; and why would he want to walk away from a win/win opportunity? He’s either going to make a big success of this or, if he doesn’t, everybody will think it was circumstance that prevented him from doing so (and the owner and ‘disruptive fans’ will get the blame). Not a bad opportunity for your first break as a football manager. My view is he is going to succeed.
Wasn’t there, still on holiday. Followed on Twitter but has to be one of the most depressing results in my 53 years of following Charlton. Not because we lost. Not because the lads didn’t give it their all. It’s depressing because we’re forced to field a team of kids to fulfil a first team fixture. Back to the sunbed ...

It is never good to lose any match, especially to a lower league team, but there were a few positives from last night. I thought the midfield did well last night with Morgan out standout player. If he continues to progress we could have another one off the production line. Marshall was a handful without any real end product and Dijksteel looked the most comfortable of the defenders. We created chances but naive defending cost us. Also a mention for Sarpong-Wiredu who came off the bench and had that 'things could happen' feel about him. A very good cameo.
It was men against boys, but I would rather us have the squad we had last Saturday all fully fit for this Saturday. The result may have been 3-0 but I did not think the 'boys' disgraced themselves.
what an experience for the players lose 3-0 to a league 2 outfit, to preserve a thin squad that will likely scrape into playoffs then lose our asshole, as from what i have read sounds like saturday we scraped a win against shrewsbury hardly one of the big guns in this league.
i know its only one mans fault but i am always disappointinted when we lose a game.

Barely registered.
If Roland remains in charge I can’t see a scenario where I attend a single game this season.

Bowyer let Euell step up presumably because bar 1/2 it was Euells side.
I always want Charlton to win but in a long season with a thin squad last night really wasn’t a priority.
He just didn’t take part.
How do we know that's not a mannequin?
I can't believe Bowyer wasnt there, it's a bloody disgrace no wonder the Aussies have pulled out of buying the club.
Oh, and EFF OFF AND SELL THE CLUB
