Henry, I do admire someone who champions the cause of the underdog.
Lou(ser) Reed has contributed as much to Rock 'n Roll as Kevin Lisbie has to the art of scoring a goal.
To use the same analogy with Bowie would make him Brian Clough.

Didn't understand that at all.
Bowie openly admits his debt to Reed and plays at least one Reed song at every live show. No Lou Reed, No Ziggy. FACT
Bowie may have sold more records but people buy more Fosters than Bishops Finger. We both now which is best.

Well that doesn't surprise me at all seeing as your knowledge of football only goes back to 1992.

Actually you are right. You really didn't understand.
That's correct I didn't understand the analogy which is why I said I didn't understand it.
Clough played before Lisbie and had no influence on him (obvious if you watch Lisbie's finishing) but Bowie came after and copied Reed so it made no sense.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Thank you for your applause. That was Perfect Day. Now for my next song ..... Perfect Day"
Horses for courses
Here's touring a stage show of "Berlin" an absolute classic and harrowing piece. Best not to listen to if you are feeling a bit depressed.
Check out Berlin, Transformer, Coney Island Baby, and the first four Velvet Underground albums or just get a decent compilation.
Well he has played at the Valley so why not.

Our former manager.
I envy you. All that great music to discover for the first time.
Is he the one that sang about going to the moon in car full of pork scratchings or summat?

Do you mean John Cale? Love Paris 1919, one of the overlooked classics

Oh and : - )
As you are a funky guy try Reed's Street Hassle album might be more up your street than the earlier ambiant noise/Pop stuff.
Lou is quite funky - check out the bass line on Walk on the Wild SIde - Herbie Flowers played it. Bet Davey never knew that : -0

I agree. That's what makes it so good.
