I remember going down to Selhurst Park midweek once to get tickets for some away game or another and he served me from that crappy little portacabin perched on the side.
Because they can choose who goes to an internal presentation but those who go to a football game choose to go themselves? And the achievement would be somewhat undermined by, potentially, some using the opportunity to aim their anger at him for the actions of the regime for which his wife is one of their public spokespersons.
Wife has tainited him, has sat there and done nothing as she laughed at fans and goaded us (peterbrough away) and continues to back regime online. I’ll say no more.
Nice of you to come in here, to a thread thanking him, and chucking some negative vibes. Well done
I make no apologises, he is an extension of his wife and we know exactly what she thinks of us.
Congratulations Chris Parkes, you deserve this for all the hard work you have put in throughout the years. It is a shame the last decade has been so tumultuous.
Good on you Chris. A loyal Charlton man who could have been far better financially rewarded elsewhere, but has stuck at the club he loves doing a job he loves.
He is as nice a chap as you could wish to meet and it’s that that makes things so difficult to accept. I just find it very sad indeed that he has chosen to (seemingly) openly support the regime.....or at least seen to be anti those who don’t. Unlike Sue, he has for the most part remained tight lipped but it’s well known that he shares most of, if not all, of her views. For many that know The Parkes, they find it very very hard to accept or fully understand their strongly entrenched opinions. I know Chris has suffered greatly from the fall out from this and that there are fans who are reluctant to associate with him as a result. I really cannot understand why he is so anti anyone who demonstrates or shows overt dislike of Duchatalet, after all what choice do we have......are we as staunch fans supposed to roll over and take the appalling shyte that’s being thrown around by the bastard from Belgium. Chris Parkes falling out of favour with a considerable proportion of the fan base is without doubt one of the saddest things that has happened throughout this whole dreadful saga......another thing for which I will never forgive that slag for. I hope to god that Chris comes through this unscathed and once again we see a man with a genuine smile on his face and back to his normal self.....which at present he clearly isn’t. Well done Chris for the 30 years service and despite our differences, I ( and I am sure others), will always wish you well, not for your stance but for the man we know you to be.
Chris Parkes fully deserves every single accolade for 30 years of great service to the club and to so many players and fans in that time. First four years - Selhurst and the Boleyn. Last four years - Roland. That's some pair of bookends for a totally dedicated career.
The RD era has blighted playing and coaching careers, alienated loyal supporters and harshly compromised club stalwarts such as CP.
Please let this living nightmare end asap and let the unsung heroes who've kept our club going recover the rightful respect that they've so richly earned.
I’ve only met Chris Parkes once, when that ex-Arsenal marketing bloke (now at Norwich) tried to bump my North Stand table booking and subsequently moved us to the posh lounge in the light of my robust protests.
I found Chris a thoroughly nice bloke and a true Charlton man. Not many of them have survived this odious regime, so well done to him in reaching the 30 year milestone. We need all the continuity we can get in this revolving door culture.
We should give him the credit he deserves for his exceptional service. I can see why there is not a presentation on the pitch today as it could risk becoming a focal point for anti-Duchatelet sentiment, especially given his wife's behaviour in recent years. Also, there doesn't seem to be anyone in a senior position actually bothering to come to the match to make a presentation ...
That someone who has given so much divides sentiment and does not even warrant an on-pitch thank you says all you need to know about what Duchatalet has done to a club which was once praised for being like a family.
I’ve never met the bloke. 30 years servant to the football club is an incredible achievement. All the other shit doesn’t matter, it’s a moment to recognise and pay respects too. The video of past and present Charlton legends pay homage to that. Thanks Chris.

I wonder if he remembers that too?
He seemed very pleasant and willingly answered the questions I asked.
He deserves congratulations on his 30 years and his stability and reliability has probably prevented things being even worse in my opinion.
He is out of shot preparing Cheddar cubes and mini pickled onions on cocktail sticks as befits his status.

Have nothing but respect for him and thank him for standing by the club.
30 years at this total nuthouse...got to respect that whatever you think of his other half.
