THE KEY TO SURVIVAL IN THE (FOOTBALL) DUGOUT ?

According to the League Manager's Association .. manage the club you played for .. of the magic 92, no less than 31 (as I type this, things can change very quickly) are managed by ex players for that club .. who'd'a thunk it ?, a third, 33% .. that stat really surprised yet pleased me

So, under Monsieur Bowyer (and M Jackson), we should be well down the road to great success.

Mind you, some managers have played for a LOT of clubs

  • Only 3 in the premier league and one of them never played a game. So 2 really.

It does apply mostly to the FL lower leagues as you point out
  • Is that because people look for jobs closer to home?

Would you up root your family to Carlisle, if you lived in the south east, for a job that has zero security?

could be .. or perhaps it's a case of 'the devil you know'
  • It's a football cliche isn't it, "knowing the club"

"We're so glad to have xxxx back as manager, As a former player he knows the club and what it stands for etc"

In some ways true, but are football clubs of a similar really that different?
