Villa play Bolton in the SSports televised game. Villa or Leeds seem to be almost omnipresent when sky broadcast the Champ.
Villa is a massive club and needs the money to get even more massiver. (New word)
Both teams are in pretty dire form, 17th placed Villa have won one in the last five, 19th placed Bolton have won none in the last five. Should be a classic.
Anyway, Jack Grealish is the most fouled player in the Championship. Villa are on the box so often that it is easy to see that whoever the opposition, players take turns to foul him, to slow him down, put him off his game. They're prepared to take a booking 'for the team' but a mate will do him next time to spread around the yellow and hopefully avoid the red.
There is room to copy rugby here, both codes. When a rugby referee considers that persistent law breaking is happening (not just fouling opposition players) he will call the team captain over and warn him that the next transgression will bring serious consequences. Rugby Union has the sin bin so that is an option not available to football referees. Sadly, perhaps more red cards should be dished out to protect the Grealishes and Hazards of the world, not to over protect them but there must be a line drawn to protect the skilful from persistent fouling at the hands of the more plebeian.
