There's a running joke in our house about how you say Charlton. My wife corrects me every time I say it and emphasises the "ton" at the end.
My daughter's sided with me and we say it just to annoy her.
We were watching the build up to Sunday's game and Chris Powell said Chartun. My daughter turned to my wife gleefully and said "see mummy, it is pronounced Chartun".
She then got hold of the remote and rewound it to hear him say it again (and again)

I think your wife is in love with Sir Chris Powell. She's in a very long queue there.
It's this seasons fashion. Last season everyone was on their way some where, before that everyone followed on. All the mangers in the football league have had a dream over the last few years. Next season I would imagine there will be lots of people "at the wheel".
You used to know what team you were watching by the songs their fans sung.
Bloody hell I don't believe that. City players rejoicing at a fan being almost beaten to death.
Like us singing songs about burning Millwall and Palace.
If we had actually burnt some of their supporters it would be different. Most of us wouldn't join in. Also it is a bit different to the players singing it to the fans.
Bowyer's at the wheel,
Tell me how good does it feel,
We've got Taylor, Chris Solly and Sarr, Joe Aribo is gonna go far, The Greatest of all South London, we hate the Scum, Du du, du du, du, du, du du du ...

Its just that much easier to see what songs other teams sing these days. In the pre internet days you would only hear a song when you played a game so if a song spread it was harder to track and hard to pin down. Nowadays songs spread all over Europe very quickly.
This particular song was being sung in Ireland for all of 2018 for example.
I remember being very annoyed when Sky would talk about the "Poznan", something Cork City fans had been doing for a decade, and that already had a name, and was common throughout Europe for at least as long, as if it didn't exist until a big team started doing it.
If you want to be original I suggest mining the hits of 80s, there are a tonne of songs waiting to be adapted.

It does make it a bit boring though, when fans everywhere are singing the same songs
One thing which does seem fairly unique to us (not the tune but when we do it), is our singing goal celebration music home and away, don't remember any other fans doing this

That is tragic.
Works for United as they've got the Stone Roses connection, what's our excuse?

Don't hear that much these days.
Remember in 98 we were singing it loud and proud from late Feb onwards!
