Big argument with my ex that day, she had about 10 of her university friends come down to us on the Saturday night to go for a meal & drinks etc. Got to about 1015 and I left the merriment in full swing to go home to watch the boys on motd!!
Signing Allan Simonsen still feels surreal. Hard to find a valid hypothetical equivalent shock transfer today, but it would be a bit like Iniesta signing for Reading. Simonsen was so far ahead of his teammates in speed of thought and technical ability that they sometimes made him look bad. Poor bugger.
Whenever I watch The Upbeats, it reminds me that football (like most sports) is meant to be for pleasure. They exude pleasure, happiness and joy at just playing the game. Well, and a good deal of competitive edge, skill and determination! They brighten any day with their smiles.
Anyone aware of the South London Special League (SLSL) it operates roughly once a month in the Charlton area? ? Its an awesome set up when I used to take the team I ran there were generally 20-25 teams competing in various leagues. Its brilliant stuff hats off to all those who volunteer to make a great, competitive & fun day out for all involved.
