I like Marshall but have been a bit disappointed with him (maybe I expected too much) so it’s nice to see him with comments like that (and glad he got a goal)
He’s been unlucky since he joined. Had his own injury problems and wingers not being part of the spine are always “expendable “ in a side that has to chop and change because of other injuries. He has a good work ethic and is always helping out defensively which for a wide man is a real plus. Glad he’s starting to tick.
Biggest problem with Marshall is that we signed an attacking winger who could beat a player, chip in with the occasional goal and create goalscoring opportunities. He is simply no longer that player.
Still has a part to play though and to honest thought he would be a Bowyer type player, someone who gives 100% and will battle.
I was so pleased for him on Saturday as he got his reward as hard work pays off. He has done himself no harm in giving himself that chance of playing from the start. Even recently he has came on and done well, before Saturday.
I think it’s been a real tough time for him at the club. He was injured at the beginning of last season and when he was coming back, Fosu was in great form and scoring goals. He then came into side when we were beginning to struggle and lost form, we also had Magennis up front on his own so any chances that Marshall did create, were more likely not to have been scored.
Fast forward near the end of last season and he was fantastic against Blackburn at home but was completely left out from both play-off games against Shrewsbury, that seemed to create rumours of him leaving etc, but he has stayed and has since worked hard.
I also believe he has fallen foul of the system Bowyer has chose to use this season. Where he wants two up front, we either are playing three at the back or a diamond. With three at the back he can play right wing back, but Solly is an important player so he is in front of him. We also are less likely to play with a back three when Page is injured. So it’s a diamond midfield. As he has said in this interview and with what Bowyer has said too, he isn’t going to be a player that will be behind the front two like Fosu or Ward, so he needs to be one of the two in the middle that needs to work hard to go out wide and quickly get in again. It’s a completely different job and role to what he would’ve always been used to. Marshall is a proper wide man, and his defensive capabilities, such as his work rate and positioning, are the reason why he could pursue his career as a wing back.
Overall, I think he has been disappointing considering the pedigree he joined with. However, there are reasons for this, and with his attitude, work rate and desire to learn and improve, he could prove to be a valuable player for us for the rest of this season. I like him and wish him all the best.
He always comes across so well in interviews, and I really like the bloke. It just hasn't worked since he's been here. For a chalk on your boots winger he's looked sluggish and awkward on the ball and his delivery has been poor. But there have been some signs of things turning around in recent weeks, and I really, really hope they do. Having him in form coming on as a substitute to run at tiring teams makes us much better.
A Bradford fan i know was gutted when they lost Marshall, but wasnt at all bothered about clarke leaving! Hes struggled with injuries and form, and ive not been particularly impressed the few times ive seem him tbh. But..hes worked his way back into bows plans and seems to have taken criticism on board. Nice goal on Saturday too. He works hard and will be an important player over the next couple of months i think.
After a somewhat disappointing start to his time with us, he is now showing how much he wants to play his part in this squad and fight for a regular place in the team.
IMO he is a work in progress but gaining confidence with every appearance. Saturday's goal will have increased that & I was so pleased that he scored in front of the faithful. He really needs to play regularly now.
A player who loves to take on defenders & who has incredible speed.
Was well pleased for him. Imagine he was told by Bowyer his playing time will be limited this season yet has kept going. The only issue I have is his crossing, but he put in a very good performance against Donny this season and I thought he was superb against Blackburn at home last season

I think that's harsh, he played pretty regularly when fit under Robinson. He was meant to be the one providing width with the other two in the attacking line and the center forward interchanging. The problem is that the latter didn't happen, and Marshall looked so bereft of confidence and technical ability.

Not having the blame put on Robinson for this one. Fosu played down the wing, as did Holmes and both did well. Marshall has failed to impress in the majority of games he has played down the wing.

Hopefully he can rediscover some of it, certainly not ruling him out.
When you have a small squad it drifts towards square pegs in round holes and in a pukka 4-4-2 he would be decent but having said that I think he would be an effective RB, as would Waggy.

He burnt off his defender a couple of times Saturday with ease. Not yet fully composed for crosses.
Interesting to read he would naturally have cut inside but Bowyer had been getting him to let it come across and shoot across, he tried it and scored,
Not going to hurt his chances of more game time unde his Gaffer is it.
