Agree with Hoof It UTB. I fully expected us to gift them a goal with about 15 mins left. I prepared for it......we seemed determined to self destruct. The fact that we didn’t bodes well.....Thought Gillingham looked dangerous until they got anywhere near our goal. Going forward we looked classy and used the flanks well , switching the game. Ajose needs to do more off the ball and run more diagonally. A wins a win. COYR.
Ajose did do the runs yesterday but like the occasion when he was unmarked and in oceans of space attacking the away end, young Dijksteel ignored him and tried to find the left wing. Problem is for Ajose, he must do better when a chance come along and messing up in front of the Jimmy Seed on the edge of the box won't help his prospects of starting matches when Grant is fit. TBF he has had assists and a goal but like others I did expect more from a player who can score against Millwall !

Yes, I thought he did ok yesterday, but that isn't the first time when his touch has let him down at a key time.
Wonder if the low numbers of Gills supporters was affected by the rail engineering works? No services through Charlton, and the lines from Medway also had rail replacement services.
Time of year too, thought it was a decent enough turn out from them, surprised at how quiet they were though.

I suppose after losing an early goal there wasn't much to sing about.

I don't think we play to his strengths enough, which is his runs into space off the last defender. If you hit it up to him he doesn't have the strength or control to keep the ball
Anyone else think Reeves looked offside for the first one?
Ajose is running in on the left out of picture with a defender alongside. Not even close IMO.
Neither Steve Lovell or their match report mention it which is a fair indication that they didn’t think it was close.
Mind you, Lovell doesn’t think Holly had anything to do other than the two goals so perhaps his eyesight isn’t that good!
Speaking of Holly, he looks a good goalkeeper and certainly has presence. Good distribution as well. Maybe any new owners could put him on their shopping list?
I did notice that his throw outs were very impressive. Always seemed to find a man and get an attack going

Nice moment from him in the second half when he came out to meet an oncoming attack and ended up dribbling past a couple of our players and which seemed to get a round of appreciation from some of our fans
Thought Ajose wasn’t as good as he was against Wimbledon but did okay.
As mentioned above he is making the runs, working hard and seems to desperately want to do well and score.
However, either the players do not see his runs or choose to ignore him and maybe (though doubt it) that is because, again as mentioned, at the crucial moment his application often fails him.
Ajose may be trying to hard, wanting it just a little too much and pressurising himself into making mistakes. Where as KAG or Lyle have faith even if they missed earlier
Just out of interest how did the ex CAFC contingent get on in the match? I saw Hanlan and Parrett started and Charles-Cook came off the bench
I thought Parrett looked neat and tidy without much of an end product . Hanlan put himself about enthusiastically without ever really looking dangerous. Regan looked tricky and mobile but lightweight. Young Reeco looked to have more about him than Hanlan from his short cameo. In other words I was a bit meh about all three.
Steer seems to have got stick again, citing poor distribution. He actually slipped at least twice when kicking the ball. The pitch is cutting up quite badly probably due to the cuts in funding every year since RD installed the new one.

Over watering the pitch before kick-off can't help much either.

Barry Fuller struggled with Tarique but in fairness, on his first half form, most full backs at this level would

Anyway got the 9 points I wanted from December. My opinion any points from next 2 games is a bonus. Then on to January 9 points from that month and we begin our promotion push l. Can't wait for Barnsley next Saturday.
Can't agree with that.
A side hoping to win promotion should not be seeing any points from Coventry away as a bonus. They're on a poor run and we owe them for their smash and grab at the Valley. Let's keep the winning run going as Barnsley will be a lot tougher!
Don’t understand the continued negativity towards Steer we have a quality keeper on our hands.... so what if a couple of kicks went out of play at least he is trying to move the ball quickly and create something....some of our fans have to have a go for the sake of it ....Been one of the best players during this run

I think sometimes that some of our fans forget we are in League 1

I think what @clb74 was saying was at the start of december
Blackpool away Pompy away AFC home Gills home Coventry away Barnsley awwy
That 9 points would have been an expected return and we alreaey have the 9 points thanks to that win at pompy so yes we should be expecting to win at coventry and if we do we are 3 points up for what @clb74 expected.
Personally I expected 10 points in december so we are still a point behind for me
Good all round performance Highlights for me were Fosu's return to his best, some sublime moments from Beilik, Taylor's fantastic work rate & that tackle from Solly.

Not sure it is continued negativity to observe that he didn't have the best game yesterday. It is just accurate, in the same way as people have been praising him on here on other threads.
Their support was shit from where I was sitting. Couldn’t hear them at all. They even got the ‘You’re support is fucking shit....shhhh’ twice and then silence along with ‘we forgot that you were here’

It's not continued negativity but he was poor yesterday. He nearly lost the ball twice, dropped a cross, his goalkicks were poor and his distribution was off. He could easily have gifted a goal away yesterday.
It was a bad day for him after a series of good performances.

There isn't "continued negativity" though, just comments that he had a poor match, after a run of very good performances.
When we had a little run earlier in the season I was not convinced as we grabbed a few late winners. Welcome of course but when you win a good number by more than one you have a better chance of continuing a run as you are clearly less reliant on luck and that can fall both ways. Recent experience tells me that comfortable home wins are not the Charlton way, but they have been much more prominent of late. This is a good sign.
If you regularly are scoring over one goal in a game, and regularly conceding one goal or less, you are on to something. Taking our performances since November (8 games), we have only failed to score less than two in one game which we lost to Blackpool. Likewise, that was the only game we conceded more than one in. In 6 of those 8 games we achieved clean sheets. These are the stats you look at to see if form is genuine or misleading. It does look like Bowyer is on to something here.

What Charlton fans are trying to make it like a derby.
I never once went into the game thinking it was anything other than a normal game
Must have made some noise maybe twice all game.
Methinks they are trying to hard to create something that doesn’t exist.
