Pubs/bars around Shaftesbury Avenue

My wife and mother are going to the Apollo Theatre tomorrow to see a matinee. After the show, they'd like to go for a drink nearby - in a nice pub or bar that does decent wine. They're looking for something fairly smart, not touristy, or too young and trendy. Don't mind paying a bit extra for nice setting and good wine, as it's a Christmas treat. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks!

    Hi Riveria, this is Rachel, Crisis's far superior other half. We've only met once as he refuses to take me to the Long Pond in case I show him up. I like the Harp but I don't like beer so I fancied going to somewhere for a nice drop of wine, somewhere a bit posh but not young, trendy or pretentious. I've heard you're the discerning type so you must know somewhere.

    Hi Rachel, I'm sorry but having left the City 5 years ago I'm totally out of touch with what's hot and what's not in the West End. I'm sure there are plenty of what you're looking for though and one of our kind young members will help you I'd think.
