Hibernian are delighted to confirm the signing of Marc McNulty on loan from Reading for the rest of the season. Another who's name was mentioned with us.
Looking at Newcastle who have yesterday made a £20m signing. That is their record signing. That in 2019. The last year of the 2nd decade of the 21st century. Nearly 23 years they made there then record signing of Alan Shearer fo £15m. A then world record fee. The current world record fee is around £200m. It then took the Geordies another 9 years to break their transfer record of which was Michael Owen for just under £17m. That remained the record until yesterday. Now I am actually really surprised that a club that size and a club that stature have only broken their transfer record at £20m considering they signed Shearer for £15m nearly 23 years ago and considering the proportion of transfer fees. And considering a club like Bournemouth who (no disrespect to them) have traditionally have been a club in 3rd or 4th tier of English football and only arrived in the top flight for the first time in 2015 have made signings of a round £25m.
