For car lovers, I can recommend the Haynes motor museum near Yeovil
I saw this today as I was on their website. Am arranging a classic car tour and was looking at their events to tie in a visit. He actually died a few days ago.
The manuals were essential when running a car on a budget.
Had one for my first car.....a Marina. . Never did anything more than replaced the oil.....but used one for my Cavalier when I had to bleed the brakes.

Helped me strip out an and refit a 1600E Mk 2 cortina engine, still had 3 nuts and a few washers left over though, but it worked. Priceless.
I used one to remove the cylinder head on my old Fiesta, de-coke it, grind in new valves and refurb the carburettor. Had a small selection of nuts/washers etc left over but the engine ran sweetly and never had a problem with it.
I went out last night in a Haynes BSA Bantam t-shirt. One of my mates asked if I was wearing it for a special reason. Obviously, I wasn't as I needed him to explain to me what he meant. Sad to say my special reason was that it was only £10 in Tesco.
Fascinating books, great drawings. Quite iconic. RIP JH.
Was lucky enough to do my work experience at Haynes in Sparkford. John came in and checked with me how it was going, and also asked me to change one of the tyres on his car. Which I did whilst he was chatting to me, then he gave me £20 for doing it, I told him it was ok and he didn’t need to but I could give it to charity, so he then gave me another £20 and said thats for you give the other £20 to charity.

Also recommend the museum on the A303.
Notice he was only an MBE which is a travesty when you see knighthoods dished out for fun.
Nice guy.
