By the way you've dropped him, I'd guess you think Souly's off then, Henry? (sob...)

Looks like Lazio were very interested:

Lazio have reportedly found the heir to Massimo Oddo in the form of French Under-21 international Yassin Moutaouakil. Although Valon Behrami has impressed in a new right-back role following Oddo’s January switch to Milan, it’s no secret the Biancocelesti are looking to bring in a new defender in the summer. The man for the job would appear to be Les Bleus prospect Moutaouakil, who shone when club scouts were in the stands for France’s 4-0 win over Switzerland on Wednesday. He is a rapid and attacking right-back who has continued to play for the Under-21 side despite being frozen out of his club outfit for the past fortnight. A contract dispute with Ligue 2 side Chateauroux has seen him banished to the sidelines, his deal set to expire on June 30, 2008. Born in Nice in July 1986, the talented youngster of Moroccan origin would be available to Lazio for under £600,000.

(cue arguement as to whether Ireland is part of British Isles

    .....................

Ireland is part of the British Isles which covers everything - England, Wales, Scotland, Isle of Mann, Channel Islands, Rockall etc.

    As a human being.

You wait Len, you will tear up your photos of Kish and change your user name to Cory when you see him play. Like Duncan Edwards and John Charles rolled into one.

[cite]Posted By: Weegie Addick[/cite]He's a right back but can also play on the left.
Sounds good in some ways, but will be a big change for him. Let's hope Souly stays as then they can speak French to each other - always useful to have defenders who can communicate on the pitch!

With you on that one - would be great if Souley stayed, but will he drop to the Championship?

I'd LOVE Souly to stay - think he's almost captain material (depending on his prowess in English). Could be the rock in a Championship defence. He always looks very committed - but fear that's more to football than to Charlton. Depends if we get a decent offer for him, I suppose. Bizarrely I feel I'd almost be more upset at him going than DB going, as the latter is so expected.

    Agreed Weegie!

    Hope we keep him.

I think he is speaking geographically rather than politically.

whether he was speaking geographically or politically he'd still be wrong as ROI is not part of the British Isles and British olympic team that is seperate from the ROI team and there is also the British and Irish Lions.

Geographically I believe the British Isles refers to the islands around Britain of which Ireland (the whole thing!) is one.

Politically one refers to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Channel Islands are also independent and in fact are not members of the EU.

Mind you I did Geography "O" level close on 40 years ago now so I might be wrong:-)

I think you are Len but i respect your right to be wrong ; 0 )

By the way i heard Young was going to Boro yesterday and it is probably rubbish but it's interesting that we've signed a rb today.

Souly can be the new Kish, eh, Len? (It will take a lot to convince me about Gibbs - whatever inside info Henry seems to have...)

Geographically the ROI is part of the British Isles, politically it is of course not part of Great Britain, they are two separate items.

Len being an intelligent fellow i'm sure you know that i could go on and edit Wiki to say whatever i wanted as someone once did with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's page! When i visited the Houses of Parliament i was told the British Isles was made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. As you might guess, i've had this convo before : 0 )

Yes I appreciate Wicki can be edited. Answers.com says the same though and I'm not aware that can be edited.
    http://www.answers.com/topic/british-isles?cat=travel

You got your info from the Houses of Parliament. As the Wicki article mentions there is an understandable desire politically to be aware of Irish sensitivities.

Maybe that is why you were told what you were when you visited Parliament.

what do you think they were worried i'd blow them up if they told me an answer i didn't like? i'm not that sort of bloke mate, seen to much rubbish to get too stressed! another thing i know is that in primary schools the British Isles is taught as E, W, S AND NI. The wife however also told me that some of the older teachers regard what you say as correct. peace out!

Yes, I don't really know why we're arguing given that Henry and BFR started it!:-)

this is a thread where people can read and talk about a new signing.

If you want to have a debate about what is the British Isles or not, start another thread.

He is certainly going to be a raw talent.

He has only played 35 games in the French second division in his career, so the Championship in all honesty is a step up for him.

What French division did Souly come from?

He seems to have adjusted well.
