I am hoping to get Barnsley in the play offs - Sad for them as they were the best team in the division for a while, but it has all caught up with them. You could see the writing on the wall in their televised games even if they won on and drew one of them. Hard to look beyond Sunderland getting second.
Lost their top scorer outside of the transfer window
Luckily we had both Grant and Taylor so could just about afford to lose one of them without a replacement
If your team is under the cosh first half, and you've already made one flying tip over, and been steady so far, then you face a crucial penalty, and save it, not the other guy missing, but a fantastic full length save to keep your team in it, and in fact shape the turning point of the match, and then play well, steadily and error free to keep a clean sheet second half as your team ends up cruising to victory, then you are the blimmin' man of the match! Take a bow Dillon Phillips, you were our best player and anybody who disagrees with me is wrong. Plymouth were actually a pretty good side in their approach play, we were, let us say, competitive in the first half, in terms of yellow cards anyway, and it was a clear penalty no argument at all. Then of course if you miss a pen promising to take you into half time with a lead, you get what you deserve, a great headed goal from the wonderful Lyle Taylor who from the penalty on was about as good as it gets. He might have scored again second half with a close effort, and we all enjoyed the overhead attempt too. That was in a second half when we sucked the very marrow out of Plymouth's bones with an early dustbin goal put on a plate for IGOOOOOOOR after a fantastic run from Williams. We played some great stuff second half, not like one of those magicians that can make an Elephant disappear and Ten Sherman Tanks appear in it's place, but like one of those green baize close up merchants that even when you watch like a hawk you can't see how it's done. Our close interplay, and mutual trust triangles and combinations bewildered Plymouth at times because in the second half we were a clear class above. You have to think about the game as a whole, but every single player bar Phillips improved in the second half and I would put that down to whatever Bowyer and Jackson said at half-time. An absolutely fantastic second half and result, let there be no doubt about that.
Edit, just seen the save, he went full length but didn't take his feet with him, still a great and deliberate save.
When you are an oldie like me, you have seen things align before. If we go up and we can keep most of this team together and improve in two or three places, we have a chance of going up again. The main ingredient is the manager, but when all the ingredients come together it is a real opportunity. Sadly our owner is mad, and won't have any idea what an opportunity he has. He has the money to make a calculated gamble on success and the riches that come with it, but not the sanity!!!!
That was a strange game, listened to @KillersBeard and watched on Dave's stream (I even managed to synchronise sight and sound!!). 1st half we didnt seem to get going and, as has been said, the ref was doing all he could to dish out yellow cards left right and centre, I was fearful that a 2nd yellow was coming for one of them. Penalty looked at bit soft, but again I think the ref was trying hard to give them everything he could, Dillon pulls off a great save and it seemed to galvanize the team and within minutes we were ahead, I have to say against the run of play. Second half was a completely different game, we doubled our lead early doors and from then on looked under no threat whatsoever. A good 3 points that surely secures our Play-Off spot, but we still have a faint outside chance of the autos, if we can keep this run going and Barnsley and Sunderland drop some points. 2 big games coming up.....6 points will do very nicely. Well played today lads on what really was a game of 2 halves.
Hopefully all the Phillips doubters have been silenced. Always rated him and pleased to see him doing well.
Good result. Pity Pompey and Sunderland won.
I'm still pissed off steer took his place and kept it for so long being no better in my opinion. Dillon done fck all wrong to be dropped in the first place. Fair play to Bowyer he learnt from a mistake.
Hasnt played enough to be a contendor compared to Lyle or Naby for me - Its becoming really tight though as we've a few like Cullen and Bielik playing themselves into form

Muttley, I think you may be getting a little carried away my friend

To be fair to Steer he's currently No1 at Villa and they're in the Championship playoffs. Both keepers are having a good season.

If we still had KAG, I would think we are the faves to make it through the playoffs. I feel now it is about 1/4 or maybe 1/3. The club would be worth an extra £10M one league up and he reduced his chances, just for £1.5M? And now risking losing Bowyer. I for the life of me cannot see how he made so much money in business with such a poor understanding of value investing.
Some people can't sniff these opportunities but I think there is one there. It doesn't matter as there is no way the club will be sold anytime soon because the mad owner wants too much, and there is no way he will take a punt on Bowyer and the lads because he is an idiot. He doesn't even seem able to be able to offer him a decent contract FFS!
Never a good idea to give the opposition a penalty, but in this case the confidence boost Dillon must have gained by saving this one under match conditions could be invaluable come the play-offs.
If it comes down to a penalty shoot-out, we won't be debating his distribution at that point. We'll just be thanking our lucky stars if he can again demonstrate his worth as a shot-stopper.

The reason Phillips was replaced by Steer was because he was better with his feet. Ironically Jed last game at the valley he had a nightmare kicking but we kept a clean sheet.
For a League 1 club we are lucky to have had Amos, Steer and now Phillips who had all been so consistent.
The game turns on the penalty the man of the match Dylan Phillips saved unbelievably well. Up until then Plymouth were the better team and should have been ahead. And Charltons midfield were fairly anonymous for that first half until Taylors goal which with the penalty saved was the turning point of the whole game. Lyle Taylor who apparently had been having the Mickey taken out of him for his hair colouring gave it to the Plymouth fans fairly large but deservedly so(So a Plymouth fan told me after the game). The second-half was dominated by Charlton keeping possession and passing the ball well and the own goal was totally unexpected but joyously received by the fans as it was there in front of us. After that what with the singing and the Great display by the team it was a very enjoyable afternoon. The Charlton fans will be going home happy after that and Plymouth is a great place to spend a night which is what we are doing. Roll on Luton but Charlton should not be too cocky because that first half performance was poor.

How many did Poyet play?
Exactly... Im one who felt Lawrie Wilson should have won that year purely on that basis
Even I am prepared to concede that we are now in the play-offs! It's all about where we finish to give ourselves the best possible chance.
To be fair our last two Play-Off failures have been when we've finished 4th and 6th so dont think it really matters if we have home advantage in the second leg or not
Priority has to be the fact that we remain the form team and go into the Play-Offs with a ton of confidence - Luton is now the hardest game between now and then and think apart from that one we can easily get maximum points from the rest

Ask the prick for a normal contract .
And then tell him
Just sell the club and FUCK OFF
