looking to book a holiday there next year, can anybody recommend good hotels, there seems so many to choose from , first hand to experience recommendations would be appreciated.
One thing I'd recommend is a taxi from the airport to the hotel. It's well over 2 hours transfer by coach, but quicker and more.comfortable by car. Obviously book in advance rather than grabbing one off the rank.
we stayed at the Bahia Principe in Akumal which was awesome, you can swim with turtles, free of charge, in their natural habitat at the public beach in Akumal too which was a mind blowing experience

Second that. Been several times always good. We found best beach at the Tulum end of the hotel as far less busy. The steak house restaurants also very good.

Thirded! Great hotel that is close to a lot of ‘attractions’... xplore and xel ha both well worth a visit! Also quite a few local cenotes to have a look at too!

We stayed at Grand Bahia Principe in Riveria Maya and it was the best holiday I've ever had. Hotel was spot on, the country as a whole was pretty interesting and went to some breathtaking places
Yep I am also another one who went to the Bahia principe tulum end of it, fantastic, great restaurants, tidy sports bar with all the games available and coco bongos for a night out is a must. Looking to book again next year for the mother in laws bday!
Ive been to the Catalonia Royal Tulum a couple of times but not for 7 years. Adults only (not in the hedonistic way) so not for you if you are taking a family. One tip... avoid Mexico during the USA college spring break. Loads of large groups of student

I went to the same hotel with the Canadian bird I was seeing a while back. It certainly bloody was hedonistic for me, I can guarantee you that...
