Pearce and Pratley remind me of Bobby Moore and Beckenbour.
    Absolute  quality

45' Great work from Igor who races on to his own flick-on, but Allsop races out to deny him in the box. #wwfc 0 #cafc 1

    45+1 One minute added... #wwfc 0 #cafc 1
  • Argh Igor... Did really well to win the ball in their box after a long ball, rushed his effort after a poor bit of control

Really showing his return to fitness tonight

Quite exciting to see flashes of the old Igor.

Aribo reminds me of Morts. Massively skillful but can be so casual. Great future though.

Attempt missed. Adebayo Akinfenwa (Wycombe Wanderers) header from the centre of the box is just a bit too high.

We are giving old Akinfenwa far too much space.

Looking strong - part of me is thrilled, part of me thinks “imagine where we would be if we hadn’t had terrible injury problems for the previous six months of the season”

That ball in by Cullen was absolutely fantastic. Right on the money.

It was a decent lift into the box, but I wouldn’t go overboard personally. Pearce did fantastic to get there though.

Igor has looked more his old self but can't quite make it happen. I hope he can continue to improve

Meanwhile this has been the most ugly, industrial performance of the season - churlish to complain when we're winning but against such a limited aide as Wycombe...well, we have the players to pull them apart but we're beating them at rugby so...well I hope this isn't a prototype for how we'll approach the playoffs. I remember last time all too well.

In short: good atmosphere at the ground, we're winning, the football is crap.

Got to say, I’ve been really impressed with Igor, he looks sharp and was unlucky with his chance near the end of the half.

Unpopular opinion time, Lapslie isn’t good enough for the first team yet. He is one paced in his pressing and it’s too quick, he needs to learn to slow down, it leaves us open in midfield and his use of the ball isn’t too good for a midfielder. Bundles of energy and heart and passion, but would prefer Reeves or Williams in there personally.

    My HT team thoughts:
Phillips looking solid and one lovely bit of distribution.
Bauer and Pearce finding AA a handful
Dijksteel having a few ropey touches but keeping at it
Ben Purr pulled out of position a bit and giving away a few soft fouls
Cullen needs to find a bit more space but lovely ball for the goal
Lapslie a bit of a headless chicken
Pratley getting stuck in - not pretty but effective
Aribo, Taylor and Igor have the ability to run them ragged if we can get the ball to them a bit more

So far, so good. Apart from being outsmarted rather by Akinfenwa.

Great to be ahead at half time. LB to get his tactics right in the second half to ensure the win. COYR!!
  • That'll do so far... Hopefully Sunderland are currently looking at the Live Table in their dressing rooms muttering "where the f**k have they come from"

Been a half typical of Plymouth on Saturday where we've let Wycombe have the majority of possession - thankfully though they're proving why they're in the position they're in and whilst they can pass the ball nicely there isnt much of an end product, either that or our defence is dealing with really nicely with both Bauer and Pearce being absolute rocks against an average Akinfenwa

Midfield wise I'd say that Pratley isnt doing badly whilst anything serious comes from Aribo or Cullen - I'm a big fan of Lapslie but he's been in the way a bit and has been chasing shadows, wouldnt be surprised if he were to be subbed with at least 30mins left; Taylor isnt getting much joy further forward whereas his "goal" on Saturday seems to have rejuvenated Vetokele who seems to have rolled back the years as he continues to do no more than the basics

Igor needs a goal. Reckon once he gets one he’ll hit a bit of goalscoring form.
  • I think Bowyer has his selection spot on so far. Wycombe have been lively around the pitch and strong in a tackle. The real bit of quality has come from Cullen for the goal, we are looking lively on the counter and hopefully as Wycombe tire in the 2nd half our more technical players on the bench will exploit spaces.

Or a Striker who wasnt sold... Fleetwood | Blackpool | Southend all games we drew or lost because we had nothing up front

Yes Grant played against Peterborough but still feel he had a good game up top alone

Just imagine had he played at Doncaster after that start we had - We were sobbing into our keyboards, crying out for someone to stick it in the net early doors

Be fair - he does need it!

Whats allowed Igor to flourish the is fact that when Wycombe attack they leave a LOT of space at the back, really is there to be expoited

At least three times (?) he's gotten in behind, twice they failed to deal with him and it was only a good save that stopped him first time and a poor touch the other

If we can get a second I wonder if its worth taking Taylor off for Parker, what with Saturday being a big one
