Went to the O2 last night, courtesy of Inspector Sands for which thanks, and saw Lucky Soul do a short set.

O2 still not finished but will be impressive when it is. None of the restaurants open and huge queues at the snack bars that were open but plenty of space. Seats were comfortable other than the hard plastic arms with cup holders and the sound was cracking.

Will be back again when it is up and running. 161 bus runs there all the way from Chislehurst but lots of parking

The 2000 capacity Indigo club seems a good option. Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama appearing soon.

They were OK. Not a great venue for them and I think they struggled to fill the stage not being used to so much room. They had the kids dancing down the front.

I have the album. Good poppy soul with Claire Grogan vocals and some catchy tunes but not sure if they are the future of Rock and Roll. Yet.

    I found the Dome eerie.

The actual arena's fantastic, and the little Indigo venue is lovely too. But the setting it's been placed in is pure Stepford stuff - chain bars and restaurants which just feel unreal. (And weren't finished, either!) It was a bit like being on a film set.

And loads of it isn't complete yet. The "casino" still lurks at the back, waiting for the government to give in. Backstage is supposed to be a mess. It's a really odd place.
