The relief from Igor and the absolute delight all his team mates took in the goal was beautiful to see.
He needed a proper strikers finish like that. Please be the first of many. And his assist was brilliant too.
Second half we were so good, so dominant.
Second and third goals both came from Bielik running at their back four , Cullen got stuck in, Aribo not at his best but never hides, we blew them away.
Pen looked soft but maybe made up for the non-red card when Dillon "poor distribution" Phillips sent Igor clear.
Bowyer does something to this team at half time. So often he changes things and they improve.
First half could see why Luton are top. Fast on the counter, pass and move, good finish but we beat them easily by the end.
But Igor. So pleased for him. If he and Taylor can click and Igor hits the net then we can beat anyone in this division.
That was an afternoon all right because Luton are absolutely no mugs, They will be a bit disconsolate because their unbeaten run comes to an end, but I think if they are honest they would have to accept they were bested on the day.
I can see why Luton are so good, and look certainties for promotion. They interestingly tended to play long from the back and then when they get possession upfield they are excellent. Great supporting runs, and terrific understanding as to where each other would be. It was a platform for a very good goal, although it wasn't a sign of first half dominance as we gave them plenty to think about, and Taylor hit the bar as well. Phillips made a great save from a deflection.
Their central defenders were prepared to get into physical space with Igor and Lyle, and had to resort to the odd push, nudge, and hold, battling our two. This low level physicality was their downfall for the penalty, when Lyle was 'adjusted' in the box soon after what looked like a good penalty shout against Williams. Luton were far from dirty, but their persistent niggly defending let to a predictable red for one of them after two yellows.
As for us, as for the game, as for the result. It was almost cathartic that the external worries could be forgotten in the sheer exuberance you get from an afternoon like this. Not just a great result, but a great game too, rip roaring, although I thought Luton ran out of steam and certainly ideas late on, but who can blame them in such an unfamiliar situation for them to deal with?
Our players were all at least good, and many of them better than that. In the first half the doggedness of the defence and Phillips, and especially the mighty presence of Sarr kept us going as we tried to figure things out coming from behind. credit the crowd too for keeping the players going in that first half.
Pity anybody who went to the bog in the second half! I bet at least somebody missed both the goals! Belik to Igor great finish, then Igor to Taylor great finish.
Pandemonium is the only required response to two quick goals like that and we obliged.
You look at Cullen, brilliant, Williams a magnet for the ball and 'attention', Aribo doing that Lyle Taylor thing of getting better and better as the game goes on, and then Belik. Give the guy a kick in the nuts before kick off because that sets him going! Fantastic predatory and visionary work to set up Igor. Good on yer Belik.
Igor and Taylor could hardly have been better up front. For any forward every touch and play isn't going to be perfect, to an extent forward play is about keeping on keeping on with belief and faith in percentages. Igor was at it all game, and Taylor was at it squared all game. If ever there was a star footballer it is Lyle Taylor. Maybe we are getting him in his pomp, or his blue period, or golden age but drink it in very deep guys, a Taylor doesn't come around that often, been a long time since Yann left.
Simply great afternoon, and I don't want to exclude Jacko and Bow from the praise. We wanted it, they delivered it.
So unbelievably happy to have made the game today. It’s more than a pick me up. What a feeling this is. Second half especially we were absolutely phenomenal. The tactical change to put Williams on the left of a lop-sided diamond worked a treat.
Every player out there today was fantastic, including the subs. I don’t want to do it as everyone really was brilliant, but how good was Igor today? Wow. Taylor showing why he’s got to be player of the season too.
So happy and all we can do is keep winning and see where it takes us. When we are like this, there is no team in the league who can match us.
Well done all, loved it today and it’s incredible what football can do.
Time to rest up now and enjoy it because that is what being at football and at Charlton is all about.
As mentioned with Luton; was really impressed with their passing and energy - You could see during the first half why they're top of the League and as per Mick Harford's comments, could easily have been out of sight by the end of the first half - Yes a lot of their chances went blazing over, nor do I remember them having a short shot at goal but that save from Phillips shortly after they scored was phenomenal!!
What made it such a good clash today though was the fact that you cant argue with the fact that on the first half showing, a draw would have been a fair result - Whilst Luton created a lot of chances they had to defend as well, sadly it was our slow build up that hindered us as it allowed Luton to get players back in numbers and so snuff out the danger
Thankfully though it turned out to be their downfall; first-half I felt that Moncur ran the show (just like he did for Barnsley when they visited the Valley), second half though and they were exactly like Sunderland when they visited in January and were forever on the back foot - Yes I'd agree again with Harford that our penalty was a disgrace but felt it was justified after the shocking miss from the referee for the penalty on Williams, regardless you'd have to question if it only slightly changed the dynamic of the second half because it was all Charlton and it was from that half that you can only say there was the one deserved winner!!... Igor finally got the goal he's so deserved over recent weeks (still had a lot to do when he collected the pass) and Lyle got another two to add to his tally
We continue to cling to the ledge as 2nd place reaches down to help us up, their hand is ever so slightly out of reach but as the person just dangling with thin air below them, you know there is that glimmer of hope that they might save you from the unknown ... After all we're 15-points from 7th and barring a drastic change in goal difference, we can look forward to the season extending worst case scenario
Great result. Ultimately I think our GD will let us down. Would like to get 3rd and play 6th (prob Donny). Will start looking at flights for play off final.
Got to say as well, Bielik has been proper unlucky with his nuts this season. Kicked in the nuts by a celebrating fan against Accrington Stanley, and again twice today.
Be unlucky to get that once a season, not 3 times in a about 3 months!
Yet again Taylor is the Talisman but big performances yet again from Josh Cullen and igor even though he did miss some opportunities; his work rate was outstanding and is the nailed on number two striker. To beat such a good team in the way that we did today is a real achievement for both bowyer and the team. There is no room for complacency because every gameMeans we make it closer to automatic promotion. Bowyer is right about Charlton being a happy place at present and long may it continue

Kicking the right way.

Great having quality in the side and made so effective by the work ethic displayed over the 95 minutes today. Truly a testament to Bow and Jacko.

Yes Sunderland and Portsmouth have a game in hand but they also have to face each other
1st half Luton looked good and dangerous on the break.
2nd half we were unplayable.
Amazing what LB has done, credit to himself and the club.
Dreaming of the autos now.
Up the reds.
