Special mention to the three Rochdale players that broke against us in the first half; why the hell did the man on the ball take on the Mountain that is Naby rather than pass to one of his two team mates? - Was comical.
Naby played that perfectly. He was careful to narrow the opportunity for the pass across, held his angle and timing was perfect for the interception. When he did that i thought we are watching a legend of our time.
Bumped into a fella after the match, who’d come over from Switzerland for the game, he did seem a tad hammered, said he was a good friend of Elfsborgaddick?
Wow wow what a fantastic day. Can’t even attempt to take the smile off my face. really happy with all of that....great for team fans everybody and definitely going to Doncaster if I can get tickets. Buzzing with all of this
Been to Doncaster away once. My memories are that town sights were a shopping centre full of £ shops and a roundabout they had named ‘council house roundabout’.. oh, and a 3-0 loss!
those who went, Albie Morgan looked class in the high lights, the ball for Taylors goal and the one to Taylor when Parker hit the post, plus a fierce shot and unlucky not to score - did he play himself ahead of Williams today?
IMO yes! Has more about his game than Williams! Bring Williams on against a tiring defence and he would cause problems! Like he did against Sunderland on his debut!
The danger of Morgan starting these games is he still shows weaknesses off the ball - Its okay against your Scunthorpes and Rochdales but the games against Doncaster will be a completely different kettle of fish
Is Morgan any weaker off the ball than say Williams, Reeves or Aribo ? That's why Cullen is so important as the worker in midfield because Jonny, Ben and Joe are all better when the ball's at their feet than when out of possession.

I doubt it, but I'd have Morgan before Williams or Reeves every time.
Reasons to be cheerful - No keeper is in better form in the Play Offs than Phillips. Djiksteel and Purrington are looking good. We have the best three centre halves in the division and only two will start! We have four of the six best midfielders in the play offs - I'd put McGeady and Lowe in there. We have the best all round striker in the division and Igor is starting to look like the player he was a few years ago. The football we play cannot be emulated by any of our rivals at this level. Joe Aribo is the best player at this level. You can really make a strong case for us!
We don't need to fear anyone just keep our nerve and there is a real chance of going all the way. It's Charlton we are talking about though so many a slip and all that. However I feel more optimistic than this time last year,
A workmanlike job today with some elements of real quality. Aribo was dominant and showed why we need his signature pronto. Bielik too was quality and good to see him score a good goal. Was his injury yet another boot to the bollocks? Young Albie missed a chance but nevertheless was instrumental in two of our goals. Good interplay with Krystian and a lovely weighted pass to send Lyall on his way. He offers vision which the others don't quite have to the same degree.
Poor old Parker missed an absolute sitter but he never hid and put a shift in. My old eyes might have deceived me but I think it was his back heel to Aribo for the first goal so he did contribute. Couldn't help laughing at 'if Parker scores we're on the pitch' though!
Unexpected bonus today. I just wanted to avoid defeat, injuries and suspensions and we ended up gaining two positions and home advantage too.

First things first.........I predicted a 4-0 win & getting 3rd in the preview thread (albeit being in a parallel universe). Love being me.....
Anyone not at the game do yourself a favour & watch the clip on here of the goals..........absolutely sublime. Best performance of the season for me - totally outclassed Rochdale & was a joy to watch. Cant believe that in the 2ns half we had 6 or 7 players in their box waiting for a cross.......being delivered by our main striker..!! Never thought I'd see the day when we were queuing up to score - it could have been 6 or 7. Maybe Parker should have a word with the groundsmen & tell them not to water the pitch 5 mins before the start of a game that had seen heavy showers just an hour before. Numpties. It wasn't only Parker that had trouble standing up.......Sarr slipped over a few times as well as some of their players.
As for the players & individual performers........Morgan had a stormer & his pass for Taylors goal was class. Again the midfield trio surrounding him are a class above this league & the defence didn't let us down (again). Feel sad for Parker - tries hard & kept running but it just doesn't seem to be his day/week/year. Just hope that Vetokele can keep fit for the next couple of weeks.
Off to Donny next Sunday morning. Will make sure I leave home with plenty of time. Only been to Doncaster once before - September 2008 where we won 1-0. I'll take that.
We destroyed them. Great season and probably one of my fondest as a Charlton fan and that’s despite our owner and his incompetence. Bowyer & JJ are heroes, the players have given their all and I genuinely think we will do it. I’m not writing off Doncaster or the fact we’ve got to win at Wembley as well, but there’s an energy and an aura about them at the moment. I think Bowyer has tunnel vision and it’s relentlessly focused on promotion
Morgan had a great game and could be a secret weapon none of the play off teams know about yet. Taylor unplayable, Cullen is in the zone at the moment and I pray Bowyer doesn’t dick about and bring Pearce back in ahead of Sarr. No disrespect to Pearce, but Sarr is now integral to that team and we shouldn’t tinker with it.
I know all the other teams will be tough in one way or another, but the feeling I’m getting following Bowyer’s post match speech tonight is one of complete confidence, and I am 100% on board and see us doing it
Lovely little end to the season. I thought Bowyer was absolutely barking when he predicted we’d be top two back in August, but we got damn close in the end.
We’ve finished the season in almost the perfect way. A win at Oxford and we’d have been level points with Barnsley but would’ve just missed out on goal difference. Weirdly I’m glad we lost at Oxford because it got any disappointment at what could’ve been out of the way and now we feel like we’ve grabbed a last minute winner. As it is, we end the season on a high and in sensational form, surely fearing no one.
As for today, it was party time. A 4-0 canter. Rochdale have a shocking defence and were on the beach, but it was still a confidence booster for us.
Albie was very impressive. Aribo showed his best skills. Our back four looks so assured. That bit of one on three defending by Naby was outstanding. Thought Parker done ok, easily the best he’s played for us. His run opened space that led to Aribo’s goal and he got into some good positions. He was unlucky with his chances, the first was a great block, the second was just a stretch, although he maybe had time to adjust his feet better (perhaps a confidence issue) and the third was a great bit of improvisation that just crept wide. Igor was missing those chances a few were back but that quickly changed so the same can happen for Igor. His quality of touch is a notch below our best players, but his showing today restored a bit of faith in him.
I would say that we are now the fave to win the playoffs. Feels good.
We are a good price with the bookies - 5/2 with Pompey/Sunderland joint favs at 9/4.
I find that surprising as looking at the circumstances you would say its tough between them to see who would make the final whereas on paper we should have the easier Semi-Final.
Not looking at that too much though, it will be two tight legs. If we stay tight at the back we win as I think we can score 3 across the two legs.

I think bookies think the support of Pompey and Sunderland then our form makes as all equal
Comments
aribo brings beautiful feet, skill and ingenuity
Bielik is immense at winning the ball and driving forwards
Cullen is a fantastic busy little-bastard
Morgan has a fabulous passing range for someone so young
Lyle and Josh worked well and Parker was unlucky not to score.
defence were solid when they needed to be.
that was a fabulous performance and one I thoroughly enjoyed watching.

come on lads, three games. That’s all
the last 3 games have been really easy, the one note of caution I’d give is that we need to be defensively alert as we can’t afford to get complacent.
a real show of confidence in Morgan by Bowyer today, he looks the real deal.
