Palace at home under Pardew, 2-0 victory, Luke Varney with both, sell out crowd was a Friday night game, February 2008 I think. That would take some beating.
Also, Swindon at home on Sky in 97/98. 3-0 victory, Mendonca with 2 I think, maybe Keith Jones with the other.
Did we play Ipswich on a Friday or was it midweek? When I think we might have been 2 or 3 down and come back and won, I was in the west stand and everyone was throwing their programmes onto the pitch. That was a great comeback!

That was New Years day if I remember
Think Marcus Bent Scored both Ipwich’s goals inside the first 10 mins.
I remember watching Nationwide before I left for the game as they were doing a piece about Southampton. They walked passed their trophy room with the F A Cup in the corner and the Southampton bloke said "Oh that? Just something we picked up in the summer".
I remember their goalkeeper having to pick the ball out of the back of the net six times later than evening.

Spring scored in a 1-0 a season or so later.

Clear winner - in my experience.
Edit: Don't be silly - it wasn't a Friday night!
Think the Preston game was on a Tuesday, sure we beat Palace on a Friday that season.
I missed the Southampton 6-2 (last home game I missed for 9 years I think), but the 4-1 against them was pretty good as well.
Tuesday or even Thursday comes to mind.
