That is attended peacefully by the majority but a significant minority cause problems, a lot worse crimes than we see at the football too. By your profiling sarcasm above, you’d presumably be perfectly happy for all the people around the troublemakers at that carnival to be tear gassed and attacked by our police?
And you’d also expect every media outlet to run with the story for 48 hrs, labelling and implying that the festival goers are scum/an embarrassment etc and that the carnival should be cancelled until it’s resolved?

All of the above have seen some form of disorder in recent years. Is that all down to football fans too? Alcohol is the problem here, that's why almost every town centre across the country is swarming with police every Friday/Saturday night.4 -

Football fans have always been treated as second class citizens, and had their rights laughed at by the authorities and media, seen OB get away with some serious abuse of their powers, that they would never dare to attempt at say Notting hill carnival.
Its not a football problem, it’s an English cultural/mindset problem in regards to alcohol and young lads/men gathering together, be it football, darts, rugby, boxing or cricket13 -

I think it’s just more people identified as British back then and since then there has been a shift to a pride in England and rise in English nationalism. But I’m far from an expert on the subject.
Rule Britaina is still sung by England fans too, so there is still an element of British pride in the support. For me they’re not mutually exclusive but I consider myself English and carry a SGC first and foremost.1 -

No mate but went for breakfast this morning and someone had a bexley/Charlton flag up outside their apartment. Saw a few lads that drink down the Red Barn in Barnehurst as well in the fan park.SuedeAdidas said:

Just back from Portugal. Excellent atmosphere before the game in the town bars, and i love swapping stories with fans from other clubs and having a laugh and sing song. Number of pissed England fans wearing packa macs that your mum would wear - they hadn't checked the weather before they left. Did make me chuckle.
Out standing noise from the England boys during the game. Dutch didn't make any real noise until they scored. Not impressed. Not sure about the city location - bit too small to accommodate large numbers. Catering quality in the ground was appalling - ever had that feeling you've been cheated?
For the lickspittles that swallow the media rhetoric on nawty English fans, no babies on bayonets I'm afraid. What I did see was lots of elderly people and kids walking through England fans with no hint of trauma on their faces.The elderly couple who ran the bar we drank dry looked as though it was xmas come early. They were charging nearly £6 a "pint".
Can't wait to do it again. Very proud to be an England football fan.13 -
