Dr John RIP

Passed away at 77. A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, and all round New Orleans musical legend. One of my favourite pianists and I'm pretty gutted.

Here's his performance of Such A Night with The Band from that wonderful film, The Last Waltz:

    On dear.
Absolute class, singular and cool, wonderful pianist, enriched the lives of those who encountered his music.
    RIP.

And only a few days after his mate Leon Redbone.

I watched The Last Waltz film just last night for the first time. Didn't know I'd wake up to find one of its stars had died.

I was lucky enough to see him live at The Marquee in 1985. Great show in a great small venue.

True legend of New Orleans music.

    RIP Mack

I love New Orleans - an amazing place (once you get beyond the tourist tat) - music oozes from it's pores & Dr. John was at it's wildly beating heart...

A great loss. At least we can still go night tripping with his music.
