  • Dont know if its to do with the League Cup last night but the BBC Sport Live Updates is asking for penalty memories; someone has just posted in with the below:

Play-off final - Leicester Cardiff - penalty shootout out. Kermogant tried a clever chip. Went straight into goalies arms. He never recovered.

For one it wasnt the Play-Off Final but hope this person means he never recovered for Leicester rather than his career

    Reading 5 Arsenal 7

    Tonight Liverpool 5 Arsenal 5

Arsenal yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by throwing away a two goal lead and this time losing on pens
  • Cracking game and fair play to Arsenal, great support up there.
  • Quarter final draw is tomorrow on BBC radio 2 at 8.50am

    Sorry, what?

what happened to the draw being after the game on sky
i hardly think the average football fan is a target audience for Zoe fcuking Ball
  • With all the eyes on Gomez, both Konsa and Jed Steer played tonight as Villa beat Wolves
  • Looking at that Liverpool lineup it seems like Klopp did everything he could to lose the game, yet Arsenal still couldn't beat them!
  • See today that Klopp is saying that Liverpool may pull out of the next round as it clashes with their World Club Cup fixtures in December. He seems to want to dictate when fixtures are played.

from what i've read it's likely to be played the first week of January.
  • No doubt they'll complain about that after the busy Christmas/New Year fixtures?

May depend on who they get drawn against, if it's Oxford they may think a team like last night could do the business.

Becoming rather unlikeable - loved him at Dortmund but now getting well above his station.

  • Oxford United v Manchester City
    Manchester United v Colchester United
    Aston Villa v Liverpool
    Everton v Leicester City
  • Great for Colchester, big money for them and now well rewarded for getting this far.

City/United/Villa/Leicester to go through for me.

I thought world club cup thing was a three line whip from FIFA? If so, the date for the Carabao cup fifth round is the same day as Liverpool are scheduled to play in Doha, so much as I dislike Liverpool, this one isn't their fault, is it?

Week before is Champions League, week after is Christmas so those dates are out
  • Surely Liverpool should have been aware of all this fixture congestion at the start of the season

They'd have known that there would have been a conflict for the Quarter-Finals so why not let MK Dons win in the first round and so avoid all this

Especially if they dont care about winning it

Reward for Oxford and Colchester for taking this competition seriously

Great to see some of the youngsters on display, Jones for Liverpool looked really good when he came on

In fairness he put out a bunch of kids the other night and clearly wouldn't have been too fussed if they lost, but his players obviously didn't get the memo.

So basically the game will be played on the original date, but Liverpool will field a very weak team

    Villa to qualify then haha
  • Pretty much confirms my suspicion that Klopp selected a side to lose against Arsenal.

Won't just be a different squad required for the Villa game, it'll mean different backroom staff and of course a different manager, given you'd assume Klopp will be in Qatar.
  • Made me think though, it's going to be very expensive if you're Liverpool's equivalent to Seb. You'd probably have to go straight from Villa Park to either London or Manchester and get the first morning flight out to Doha

Be interested to see how Herbie Kane does against a level higher than League One!!

Whats bizarre is the fact that the Aston Villa team isnt exactly their first team either
  • Suprised Curtis Jones isn’t playing. When I’ve seen him in that UEFA U19 thing he’s been ridiculously good.

    Think he's in Qatar

Not surprised at all by that.

Villa knew Liverpool would play youngesters, and with the Christmas period coming up and all those game if you look who Villa have they probably think its a good chance to rest a few key players and still probably win tonight, to try and get 9 points over the christmas period

    Home to Southampton
    Home to Norwich
    Away to Watford

Could be a key 9 points for survival if they get it

Also a faint chance for silverware though
  • didn't realise the club world cup was taken seriously. thought it was just a glorified friendly tournament.
then again the league cup hasn't been taken seriously for a while by alot of teams. including us.

Massive missprice on betfair, I fancy Liverpool to get something here... Backed every draw and Liverpool win up to 3-2... Liverpool early goal and cashout are going to be extortionate
  • Liverpool 2-0 down already
