As said we don't have the leverage to keep our best players or attract guys who can get contracts in the higher division.
Apologies for being sober and not calling Bowyer and Aneke all the names under the sun. AUN is given leeway when not on duty !
The irony is if Chuks had played more minutes we would have been in the play offs at least and may have emulated our Sunderland exploits of the last couple of decades.9 -
Curious what verified 15 goal per season player we supposedly have lined up to take his place? Btw- that’s a rhetorical question.🤪1

This hot take from an EFL pundit is a bold one. Chuks Aneke or Paul Smyth…20

Well I'm disappointed because I don't see us getting a better replacement. Hope I'm proved wrong.2

mendonca said:I might be naive but I feel we've been on the harsh end of both player and club "loyalty" over the past few seasons.
Taylor not playing whilst in contract then opting not to sign our offered contract
Chelsea calling back Gallagher while he was flourishing with us
The Solly story (our club captain) which was never told and left for us to guess
Bows leaving midway through the season (although this did suit all parties)
Decent players on loan who suffered serious year ending injuries (Field and Leko)
Need more Josh Cullen's!
Don’t expect it and you won’t be disappointed.Only fans are loyal, and that’s because we’re mad.5 -
Birmingham Post: "So Chuks, how does it feel to have played 90 minutes for the blues?"Aneke: "It feels great. I've been chipping away for the last 18 months and am delighted to complete the final 10 minutes in todays game"9

Lol why would Chuks join Birimingham is Lee is such an awful manager and lost the dressing room?0
-
"losing the dressing room is a cliché"
If you have a squad of 25 players at every match, 14 of your squad won't be starting.
(I'm shit hot when it comes to maths !)
Injuries mean some players won't be available for selection and a few under 21's will make the bench.
When Jonny Williams was criticized it would have resonated in the dressing room but most players who get on the field will be content especially if they start.
Professional footballers have to be selfish as so many of their peer group in academies are/were struggling for contracts from part time or full time clubs.
I know and aware of many Players who are playing part time now after being released from academies. They have bags of talent and some will still make it. Baah (bad memories for Cafc !) Released by Palace, played for Kinetic foundation who helped him get his transfer to Rochdale and he has now signed for Watford.
Chuks Aneke will be a great free transfer signing for the Brum even if it is for 45 minutes from the bench. Never been keen on Birmingham but I wish Chuks good health.

I suspect LB had his favourites and you were either in or out. His favourites would be the grafters in the team, such as Pearce and Prats, and he had no time for less robust players or those he saw as not giving 100% all game every game, even if more skilful.
Chuks scored enough goals to get himself a free pass with LB, so was in rather than out.
I'm sure a good number of pilloried players were very happy to see the back of LB and the total change of management style under NA was very welcome.1 -
Somebody said that Chuks was unhappy at Williams' treatment after the Shrewsbury game but others made it clear he wasn't one of the dissenting voices coming from the dressing room. I certainly recall clarifying what I had heard was nothing to do with Chuks and I think others did too. So if some people think it proves Bowyer didn't lose the dressing room, that is not correct.
Chuks actually was one of the few players to wish Bowyer well when he left so any bad feeling, if there was any was clearly sorted between them. Some people are more chilled about things than others and often the term losing the dressing room doesn't apply to every single member of it.0 -

I know it's early days but I'm really starting to get concerned about next season. Aneke wasn't brilliant but when he played he was a threat and scored goals. Our recruitment team have a challenge on their hands, not just cos of Aneke leaving but because our squad looks pretty average at the moment, so they need to be able to muster a side that can challenge near the top of league 1.
Still, it's not even July yet.2 -

What’s the salary and term?- What if they all fall for your hardman approach and sign and, then, on the 1st of July a ton of better players become available but we’ve already done our budget by forcing players to make early decisions?
We start our friendlies in 2 weeks,so far one player has been signed, several let go,and a few more with contracts ending,if we are seriously going to challenge this year, the majority of the squad needs to be settled in long before the season starts.
Of course its not black and white, the ordinary punter like me can only guess or surmise what goes on in these situations. But my point is,we will still have a restricted budget, and cant really offer incoming players a deal until the outgoings are confirmed,as we dont know what sort of money we could offer.also, any prospective signings that are any good, will be in demand and will not hang around while our out of contracts make up their mind.0 -

We have a budget whatever that budget is.
All clubs have a budget and our recruitment team will work within it.
I am sure that this season they will put together a squad that will be fighting for autos/play-offs.0 -
