Wigan away advance train tickets-21/9/19

Advance singles now on sale for trains in both directions,plenty of trains to choose from,with some journey times around 2 hours.Prices are £23.50 [£15.50] singles,railcard fare in brackets.

    The ground is about 30 minutes walk from Wigan North Western station.  

    Wigan is a great place for a drink, particularly The Anvil next to the bus station, only 5 minutes walk from WNW station.

    There is a decent Wetherspoons 5 minutes walk from the train station.

    Dep Euston 10.36 arrive Wigan 12.43 prices above

    Dep Wigan 18.11 arrive Euston 20.13 price £28.00 [£18.50]

    Just booked return with split ticketing £79 for two tickets, 2hr and 10 minutes to get there and 3 and half to get back, a new ground for me.

    When you say split ticketing @Charlton_Stu, how does that work.... a bit like the 'Manningtree Trick'?

    My Son seems to wants to go, but obviously tickets are more expensive now (£88.50 return for me and a 10 year old).

    Example, London to Wolverhampton return.

    Then Wolverhampton to Wigan return.

    You make sure the tickets keep you on the 'through' train.

    A split ticket.

    Would this normally be any cheaper split ticketing via Wolves Elfs?

    @clb74 is correct.   Doing my way is no guarantee BUT the 2 or 3 times I have done this I have saved between 10-£15 overall.

    The journey is an hour longer maximum.

    Yeah pretty much what @ElfsborgAddick said although in my case it's Rugby, so i have 10.36 - 11.24 Lon to Rugby then 11.28 - 12.43 Rugby to Wigan on the same train, coming back it's 6.29 - 8.42 Wigan to Rugby then 8.43 - 9.57 leaving Rugby. A good app i have on my phone is TrainPal it brings all the cheapest fares up and times, with money off every now and then as well.
