I've spoken to Martin Tyler, for it is he, and he said it is OK to say it is him.
Lovely guy but I kept thinking "you sound just like Martin Tyler".0 -
Maybe that's best, the legend will grow bigger just as the crowd attendance, must be about 200,000 claim to have been there.6

My Dad was at the match (yes, he really was!) and spoke at length with Martin Tyler this morning - thanks Henry for putting them in touch. He described Martin as ‘a lovely chap’ and really enjoyed talking about the match and football in the late 1950s. He’d encourage any other with memories to get in touch, it would be great to get a record of this famous game with those who played a part if only from the terraces.11

For many years Jimmy Seed and then Jimmy Trotter kept match diaries, making comments on each game and player.
He are the pages for the 7 - 6 game

I was there as a 13 year old with a pal. Used to get the 696 (think it was still a trolley bus then);from Bexleyheath Clock Tower to Woolwich, then another bus to Charlton. After the game we would walk/run to Woolwich rather than join the lengthy bus queues. Great days. Was also at The Valley in recent years, can’t remember the year, when John “Buck” Ryan was a guest in a game against Huddersfield and he kicked the ball into the net from where he scored the winner in ‘57.3

That would have 1997 or 2007 for the 40th or 50th annivesery.
There was a 12 page feature in the programme.
Can you remember where the goals were scored from as Martin Tyler is keen to know exactly?0 - Sponsored links:

I believe Huddersfield started their unbeaten run after this game, which still continues to this day*.
*if you don't count league/cup/friendly games4 -
