Hungary recommendations

Going to be spending a couple of weeks in Hungary in August and wondered if anyone on here has been to any of the towns, cities or areas apart from Budapest and could give any opinions or recommendations. Thanks in advance - tips on here have really helped me in the last few years with holidays. Much better than TripAdvisor!

unfortunately i know nought about the rest of Hungary apart from Lake Balaton which is really nice and of course the brilliant Budapest.

It does seem like a country which doesn't get many visitors beyond the capital, so that's why we want to see a little more of it.0

Szentendre and Esztergom are both worth a day trip from Budapest...we went to both in a single day trip.1

I assume you’ll spend at least a little time in Budapest?
If so, make sure you don’t do Budapest around the formula 1 weekend as it’ll be proper busy then. (F1 is 2nd to 4th August)2 -
Yes - will be in Budapest for quite a bit of it in two different spells but have about another five days between to see some more of the country. Have been to Budapest before and loved it but looking forward to seeing some of the different areas.0

Visit KonyvBar & Restaurant in Budapest. It a little on the pricey side (for Budapest), but it is definitely worth it. Book in advance0

Heard Békéscsaba is decent. Craft brewery and decent architecture. But south.1
