It’s not pretty, but we’re in front. Lot of good work by Pratley 20-30 mins into the game to keep us afloat. Laps playing well. JFC looks off the pace. Fingers crossed.
Not pretty but we are up, JFC looks really poor, as does Sarr, Williams when on the ball has looked good, Pearce has been my MOTM so far, rock at the back
That'll bloody do!!... Really didnt expect to take a lead in at Half-Time
Blackburn have been all over us, been passing it and moving in a way thats left our players chasing shadows
For all their efforts though; Phillips has had sweet FA to do!!... One catch, thats it... Blackburn for all their Strikers (Armstrong | Brereton | Gallagher) havent fashioned a single clear effort on goal, yes they could well have been ahead themselves but there was no one to finish from what was a very good cross
Commentary team are right though, we do need to think about changing back to the diamond to counter Blackburn a little bit - Sarr doesnt look comfortable out on the left of the Centre-Backs (repeat of his overall Wembley performance); would also involve the players closing up a little, there just seems at times too much of a gap between defence and attack which has forced the ball to go long too many times and when that has happened the ball has just come straight back
Tom Lockyer and Anfernee Dijksteel been our best players so far though
One thing that made me chuckle though was how our attack started; Purrington collected the ball and was chased back by Downing; seriously it was like watching two old people running for a bus, those type of runs are usually between the two fastest on the pitch but those two were surely running through treacle - Still we scored from a great bit of work and maybe should have had another; Blackburn will continue to over play the ball and will continue to make mistakes; Taylor had a great chance to make it 2-0 off the back of such an error, sadly Walton was able to get down to make the save!!
Blackburn have got this all wrong, they keep coming down our right side and Anfernee is just too switched on to be beaten and if he does miss a step Lockyer is covering brilliantly. I don't see them scoring if they carry on as they started.
Positives:-
Williams looking handy, Purrington looks quicker than last season, Taylor looking very useful imo, Lockyer looks very very solid, we are playing well on the counter.
Negatives:-
Feels like we don't have a midfield, don't see us getting many chances with the lack of depth in midfield, Roland.
Enjoyable game, these Blackburn commentators are proper talking up Blackburn but personally I don't see it.

Feel like that will be the story of our season.
Absorbing some pressure, counter attack and just grinding results out.
We definitely grew into that half. Blackburn were pressing at the start and they had us rattled. But slowly we came into it more. I think they're going to hit us hard at the start of the 2nd half. We are woefully weak in the centre of the park. Well coached by Bowyer so far.
Watching on Valley Pass ...Blackburn have had plenty of possession but have created hardly any clear cut chance. Whereas, we've had little possession but create 3 good opportunities. Long may this continue COYA
Just a reminder that JFC hasn't played competitive football for a season. So is hardly going to be the sharpest, give it a couple of weeks and he'll be fine.

But since Williams has dropped deeper, we have managed to push our wing backs further forward and really cause them some problems.
Taylor unlucky not to score and could’ve played in Williams just after we went 1-0 up to square it across goal but decided to shoot.
Williams and Purrington been our best players, alongside Dijksteel who’s been solid.
Second half to go of course but it’s encouraging. Big team talk now for Bow.

Sorry in advance if I've jinxed it
Sarr struggling and JFC looks awful.
Thats why we lost that day, today we've got players to call upon
10 of that starting 11 are players from last season....
Commentator 1: "I just get so frustrated. This is Charlton Athletic for gods sake, they're not Real Madrid."
*Awkward silence*
Commentator 2: "Neither are we..."
