  • That stability was kept by massive oppression bordering on genocide, something people seem to forget because Iraq wasn't open we will probably never know the true scale of what Saddam got up to.

I wonder if there are any Kurds using this site as it would be interesting to here their angle on Saddam and what it was like pre and post-invasion?

is the world safer now or before he came to power?

If you're implying that the world is less safe now and it is Blair's fault that's ridiculous.

i was just asking a question.
  • in response to that question then it is less safe
  • that was easy.

    Grrr! ;-)

Do you think the world is less safe because of Blair?
  • no,i think we are just getting older. we have always had shit to scare us.nazi's,cold war,ira terrorists, nuclear bombs, global warming, european union, immigration avalanch, muslim fundamentalists.george bush.

    life goes on.
  • i concur!

I also think there is probably increased media coverage and reporting on the dangers now which makes people feel a lot more unsafe

  • Britain is safer because the IRA are no longer a threat, thanks to Blair (amongst others).

Britain is though less safe because of Islamic backed terrorists and part of the responsibility for that is down to Blair's decision to pursue a pointless war in Iraq before Afghanistan had been cleared up.

or maybe the peace process was speeded up by the american realisation of what terrorism really is.suddenly the ira holds no credibility, funds dry up and blair is able to cash in on their weakness as they have nowhere left to turn.

it could be that fallout of american foreign policy has made us safer in that regard.

    Very good!
  • you all read 1984 right?

war is peace....Make em scared of something and they will obey...we'll always be at war with something, terror, cold or just global warming...war on 4x4's etc....

    It's all a conspiracy i tell ya....:-)
  • 911 happened before Iraq, I think a world where that could happen is pretty unsafe.
  • Bollocks have we had anyone from Leicester!!

The Valley Express extension there was cancelled after relegation, apparently.
  • [cite]Posted By: TerraSalad[/cite]Where's Len? I have been expecting chapter and verse on why Blair is the devil incarnate and why the EU is the seventh level of hell ;-)

I can't claim the credit for this but I think it's pretty good!

To be sung to the tune of Sinatra's 'I did it my way !'

And now - The van is here,
There's only one thing that I'm certain.
    Cherie will swipe the lot,
Every light bulb and every curtain.
I haven't spent too much on holidays
    They've all been freebies.
    My thanks to Little Cliff
And one of the Bee Gees.

    Regrets, I've quite a few,
But none at all about my pension.
While some have lost the lot,
Mine is great, I'd like to mention.
Some say that they hate me
For selling gongs along the highway.
    I pray that Scotland Yard
    Will not come my way.

There were times, Iraq no doubt,
I thought that I would get found out.
But through it all, my friends stood tall
And kept their gobs shut one and all.
    Then someone said:
    Just use your head
    And blame Lord Levy.

What is a man, what has he got ?
Well in my case, it's quite a lot
And very soon in the USA,
Millions more will come my way.
    And George Bush knows
    I took the blows
    And did it his way.
