Slow start from us. Good middle of the half. Riding our luck a bit by the end. They’re getting through our midfield too easily at times with one or two in there looking a bit off the pace. Needs a tweak from Bowyer at half time. Pace has been frantic, love the Championship.
Needed half time, Stoke hit the woodwork for a second time. We’re competing but they were getting on top. Be interesting to see if Bowyer sticks with 4-5-1 or switches it.
Following from the Austrian countryside. On a train. Expected Stoke to be tough but sounds like we have held our own, especially considering so many new players.
Stoke started and finished the half better, we bossed the middle chunk.
We've ridden our luck with Stoke hitting the woodwork twice but we're well worth at least a point.
The midfield quartet are playing really well - I'm enjoying their work today. Gallagher and Williams have pulled out a couple of things from their trick bag.
Lethal Lyle seems a bit subdued up front but took his goal well, Leko has shown glimpses of promise although there are times it looks like he's got his legs in a knot when running across Stoke's backline.
Our back five is my biggest concern today; there have been a couple of iffy moments and I don't think this strong wind is helping.
Looking forward to the second half and hopefully pushing on to another win to keep up our early-season momentum.
So far this season, and I can't believe I'm writing this, I've been impressed by Pratley.
Pearce and Lockyer are playing far too deep, and neither has alighted my fear that they're not quite Championship ready. To be fair to Lockyer, you always play deep when Pearce is playing because he drops off to cover his lack of pace. Pearce gave Ince the freedom of The Valley for the goal and we struggle to build from the back without Sarr.
This leads to us dropping too deep as a team. We need to push out, we're playing with six at the back at times. My sub at halftime would be Sarr for Pearce but it won't happen. So need to try and push out and stop Woods and Allan dictating the game for Stoke. Gallagher has ability but positional looks a bit lost.
Decent first half. This is a good time to play us with the new boys still settling in. Cullen looks like he never left tbf. But some tactical adjustments needed at halftime.

Positives though, we don’t look like a side that will go down, and Stoke with this team should be up there.
LB had to do his magic & change it at HT...but can still only see one winner sadly.

Come on you rip-roaring, goal-scoring Addicks!

Huge step up from League 1
Seemed to be gun-barrel straight and then swung late ... a ball Waqar would have been proud of.
Check Tom Ince's pockets for sandpaper ...
