Not an "RIP".  Just thread to note that he has died.

  • Never heard of him
He wrote letters and made recordings pretending to be the Yorkshire ripper, mocking the police for not catching him

That being the case once Peter Sutcliffe was convicted he could have done clean. He was only found out due to be arrested on a completely different matter 25 years later & being trapped by existing DNA from the envelopes.
  • While plod chased his voice the real Ripper killed several more women

He should have.  In fact, he should have as soon as it became obvious they were chasing the wrong man.

Five....I was listening to a journalist being interviewed on 5-Live yesterday and at the original press conference she pointed out that there was no information on the tape that wasn't already out in the public domain....basically the police were led a merry dance whilst Sutcliffe went onto kill 5 more women.
  • West Yorkshire police were totally incompetent.

George Oldfield took the decision that this was the 'Ripper' and halted other lines of enquiry, despite protestations from his junior colleagues.

Don't forget, the 'Ripper' was caught by chance for an unconnected traffic violation and WYP were criticised at the trial for being totally unprepared for a trial of this magnitude.
  • The Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe has died at the age of 74.

The serial killer was serving a whole life term for murdering 13 women across Yorkshire and north-west England.

He died in hospital where he is said to have refused treatment for Covid-19. Sutcliffe also had a number of other underlying health problems.

  • Good, hope he suffered
  • The bastard lived a lot longer than his poor victims. RIH.
  • One positive of Covid-19.

I was pleased to see the BBC giving the names of his victims on the news article.

May they rest in peace, and I hope this brings some relief and closure to their families and also to survivors.

    Nine times.

They discounted him quite a few of them due to the fixation on the Wearside accent, it's why that was such a horrific thing to do too.

They missed him wearing the same boots while being questioned as they knew the killer had worn, ignored an arrest he had for wandering around the red light district with a hammer, and still didn't twig when they traced money left at the scene to his company's pay packets.

Was such a f**k up and women needlessly died.
  • The good news is that we won't be feeding him any more and, as said above, maybe the living victims whose friends and family were slaughtered may get some closure.

The bad news is, it was his choice to refuse treatment. So he has escaped more years of self-induced misery.

    Good riddance!
