Ilfracombe Museum - full of completely random things, as all good local museums should be! Drawers full of insect specimens, items related to local history and various stuffed animals
The Powell Cotton Museum in Broadstairs - like a version of Night at the Museum, full of diaramas of stuffed African animals from the Victorian era. Sounds horrific but is absolutely fascinating.
I like the Horniman for it's eclectic collection and tend to like other Museums on the same basis. Big fan of the Natural History Museum though parts of it now feel very tired (glad the kids are old enough to not want to do the shuffle around the dinosaurs now).
Abroad, I really like the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the three main galleries in Madrid and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris (though it is a long time since I've been there). Enjoyed the Resistance Museum in Amsterdam as well (again some time ago).
Most recent Museum was the Laurel and Hardy one in Ulverston, which brought a smile to my face. Nicely done, in an old cinema with artefacts from Stan's original home.
Another vote for the Imperial War Museum - all three London branches (Lambeth Road, Churchill War Rooms, HMS Belfast). I like Lambeth Road so much I'm a volunteer guide there one day a week.
Also love Beamish Open Air Museum up near Newcastle.
Visited Auschwitz and Birkenau about 5 years ago. Harrowing, moving, unmissable. My friend and I, walking that long, long walk towards the exit, passed a group of about 15 young Jewish people, marching silently behind their Star of David flag towards "the ramp". One of the most inspiring and heartbreaking images I've ever seen.
RAF Museum at Hendon International Maritime Museum, Hamburg (knocks NMM Greenwich into a cocked hat) Tank Museum, Bovingdon RAF Uxbridge, 11 Group Bunker Maritime Museum, Greenwich (still worth a visit, although not what it once was).
No vote for IWM from me, sadly. Dumbed down beyond all recognition.
Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam is fantastic. Really gets across that yes, he had a bit of talent, but he worked his absolute arse off every day to get better at his art and try to meet his own ambitions, which, ultimately, he didn’t reach until after his death. Very inspiring for anyone in any creative field
Eel Pie Island museum in Twickenham. Find out how the blues bands such as the Stones started up and marvel at all the odds and sods stuff they have on display. Plus the volunteers who run it are truly great fun and so enthusiastic. About a fiver to get in and probably a free cup of coffee.
I have been to Auschwitz.....harrowing experience, felt very somber for a day or two. An evil place......felt unreal, with the added realisation that sadly it’s anything but. School groups that were there were noticeably quiet as church mice and very very respectful. Can’t say I recommend you to visit because you are what you are and it is what it is, so you will either want to or will steer clear.
One of my favourite museums is not far from Charlton - Dulwich Picture Gallery. Another favourite is the Horniman, in both cases mainly because of their architecture
Geffrye Museum, especially around Christmas time. Sadly it's undergoing redevelopment until next Spring but the gardens and almshouses are open from time to time for tours until then.

I also loved the National Railway Museum in York, well worth a visit for true Charlton fans!
Yes, we always used to visit during the race, although not been there since 2008.

Lots of stuff from the siege of Gibraltar,
Both world wars, prehistoric and a nice shaded garden.

But seriously the natural history museum. I could spend days in there

And of course those of you living near London are spoilt for choice!
It had a corkscrew as well.
British Museum
http://www.london-motorcycle-museum.org - I'm sure the NMM is more impressive but I've never been there and this place has come wonderful pieces.
Outside the UK, I thought this place was excellent: https://krollermuller.nl/en/sculpture-garden

I won't say which one...dave2l must remain an annoymous Roland hating Charlton mystery.
I am chuffed and I can't wait.
Want to make it my 100% focus via career perspective.
I won't be getting paid, but can turn into something else.
In a way that's good. What you put into it, is what you will get out of it.
My brag of the day.
3 points at home to Birmingham please.
Nothing other then that!
F*cking hate Birmingham
@charltonnick and I are off to the National Football Museum next weekend after staying over in Wigan.
