    Was going to post the same thing.
    Once he'd turned West Ham I thought the most we would get was £12m plus GArdner.
    So well done to Varney and Richard Murray for sticking to their guns.
    It also sends the signal that none of the so-called 'big guns' can come and rip us off in the future.

    The fact that the fee is payable in instalments over three years takes the shine off a bit though.

    Excellent work by Murray and Co.

    I realise that Spotty's departure was a few years ago, but getting a total of £26.5m for Bent and Parker is staggering, imho.

    Entirely agree - the pressure to accept less must have been immense both in terms of the clubs financing requirements and in terms of doing right by Bent whose behaviour has been exemplary.

    Installments is usual and I guess it means next summers budget is already partiallly sorted.
