OK. On Driesen it was made clear that Driesen has a veto on signings and that's that. Driesen totally works for Roland not Charlton. Gallen mentioned that 'analysts' don't have to have been players and mentioned we have a good one (not Driesen) at matches at the Valley. This was a response to a question about Driesen qualifications and whether he goes and watches players. As a result of his position Driesen has to be humoured and loved up to persuade him to trust Gallen and Bowyer because he is the gatekeeper. Gallen showed impressive diplomatic skills, but did not mention what Driesen brings to the table, Driesen is simply a yay or nay force that has to be dealt with.
It was suggested that Roland may be reluctant to sign the management team on long contracts, because lengthy contracts might inhibit a sale.
I will leave the rest to the marvellous Pico, who really is somebody we're lucky to have around the club...well the trust anyway.

There's only one thing inhibiting a sale and it isn't contract lengths. Sadly I think we'll end up losing them.
He said the title of director helps in getting things done and respect in communications but Jacko takes the piss out of his title every day. He initially thought he was being offered a director of football role.

I'd humour him with my size 14s.
And to think I was wavering over getting a half season ticket.

A timely reminder that the Duchatelet regime remains disastrous despite the heroics of Bowyer, Gallen et al.
Depressing stuff. A reminder that despite the (diminishing) feel good factor, our current situation is built on very flimsy foundations. The Driessen thing just stinks. Utterly laughable. Maybe one for the fragrant J White to have a laugh with on TalkShite? Great that we have people of the calibre of Gallen, Bowyer and J.J. around but you really wouldn’t blame them if an offer came from elsewhere that was less of a madhouse. Strange times.
While the lingering presence of Driesen is daft, in practice I suspect that he makes little difference other than delaying transfers a bit, and being a bit of an irritation. The big question is whether he's actually vetoed any transfers, and the number of players who arrived in the summer and the lack of rumours about "ones that got away for some reason" suggests he hasn't
Jeez, I didn't realise that Driesen is still involved, and certainly not to this extent.
We need to ensure that - among other things - the wider fan base knows that this towering absurdity is still part of the show.
Sounds like a great move to get SG along as the guest.
But do we want to make waves for Gallen? May be he shouldn't have been so open about the Driesen farce.
That's a good question. From a distance, my impression of SG is that he is highly intelligent, and measured, and therefore knew what he was doing when he mentioned this.
I suppose that any new wave of protests will only come if/when the Jan window makes us go pear-shape, in which case SG and Bow will be planning their exit anyway.
I guess my point is, if anyone asks why protest, why not believe that everything is getting better, a very good answer is "Thomas Driesen".
Spot on about has he vetoed any, would be very interesting. I just wonder what value he adds to many of those we have acquired.
I mean just as one simple example, Jacko and I think Bowyer both said they knew little of Gallagher until he signed so what is some unconnected computer geek in Belgium going to add to that signing?
Then look at Purrington - Jacko, Bowyer, Marshall and Gallen will all know him from last season. So 4 football people who watched him every day. Did some unconnected computer geek in Belgium really have a right of veto? Beggars belief.
So any guesses on whom he may of veto’d, pure speculation I go for Aribo’s new contract- Bows and Gallen negotiated it; Some computer geek in Belgium cut it in half...

But then all football managers/DOF probably have to run signings (or at least major ones) past a non football man. Curbs wouldn't be able to sign Super Clive or Deano without Murray approving for example.
Of course normally it's the owner or CEO who has this position rather than a computer geek

Steve Gallen was very clear that he doesn't currently see TD's involvement as a problem.
To be honest although we all hate Driesen and feel he offers nothing (which is probably quite true), i simply can't imagine him saying no to any of Gallen's suggestions.
Take a signing like Oshilaja, Lockyer or Bonne for example. Would Driesen have even heard of them? Doubtful.

Is this consistent? Or is SG just being diplomatic?
From my perspective a club Director and Head of Recruitment working in a system where little Tommy Wankbucket can veto signings, where he has to humour him, where he even has to think about giving him the time of day, is just plain wrong.

Exactly, and its perfectly normal for the top person in any business to sign off on any major capital expenditure.
Driesen is not in that role. he is some kind of alternative external duplication of the role of manager/DOF. Worse, he has no direct accountability for his decisions since he reports to RD, and not the club board (which of course doesn't exist). Would RD be allowed by shareholders to have some external maverick getting involved in capital investment decisions in Melexis? Of course not.

Depends on what settings he has set up on football manager.
AGM last night Steve Gallen said Duchâtelet owes Lee Bowyer £2m from the sale of Anferne Diksteel. LB expects this sum to be available to him in the transfer window. What are the chances? #rolandout#cafc

Got a strong feeling that Bowyer will walk when he inevitably see’s none of that money
I wish I had asked if Driesen had had a veto on any specific player. My feeling is that Gallen sees Driesen as another factor in a myriad of contacts involved in signing or not signing a player. There are agents, other clubs, parents, scouts, Driesen and so forth to arrange as the ducks in a row. I get the feeling that Gallen is very good at this, he knows the psychology, he knows the practicalities, he is persuasive, and he is a very credible and estimable bloke. Gallen has a heavy workload, but he is dealing with it well it seems to me, he won me over last night anyway.

What signing or Driesen decision / input do you have an issue with over the last 18 months Prague?
Problem is, you just don't know who he has vetoed.
Would you want to spend your time as an experienced and highly respected head of recruitment going all over the country looking for available talent, of the right calibre for the club, at the right price only to be told "No" by some spotty oik playing FIFA2019 all day?

What happened at the AGM?
what did he say about becoming a director? Has his role / remit changed in any way? Has there been a board meeting since his appointment?
Thanks in advance
