A huge thank you to all who have generously donated food this week to Greenwich Foodbank. We had double the number of people handing in tonight and maybe three times the food from Tuesday. I will get an accurate count and let everyone know. We also had £120 in cash given this evening. I am again proud of our supporters who have shown such generosity and care for others. Shame the evening ended frustratingly once again but you can see the improvement and that should get better by the week as injuries subside.
I mentioned it to the chaps last night when I saw all the sainsbury's bags in the van that it could be worth contacting sainsbury's to let them know how much was purchased from their local shop this week for the food bank to see if they will make a donation.
I'm sure they'd like the publicity particularly if it ended up on Twitter/ club website.
Got enough food for 1,000 meals according to a tweet which I’ve yet to work out how to copy and paste, which sounds a lot but is basically 250 families of 4 having one meal

it was a great effort by Charlton fans, even if I say so myself as somebody who dropped off two bags full of groceries (and told them to make sure the ice cream doesn’t melt) and especially well done to those that organised it but in the scheme of things a once a year contribution of 1,000 meals seems a drop in the ocean.

It's a fair point but the Greenwich Foodbank doesn't rely on our annual collection at the Valley. It manages on lots of similar irregular collections as well as regular giving by people using their local supermarket. Every little helps as they say and 1000 meals will help enormously over Christmas and especially January when lots of people are short of money (giving and receiving). Thanks for your contribution - we had a laugh about the ice cream.

I'm happy to contact them later if you want?
And please let them know it will be happening every year and we can do pre publicity next time...
1,000 meals is a 1,000 more meals than would have been available had this collection not taken place.
Well done to all involved.
Another chance to help on Saturday
