I have a night shift tonight to look forward to then nights again 24th and 25th. Off the rest of it though so could be worse.
  • Out of work but never understood wasting holidays at this dark, cold time of year.  Accepted company shut downs, of dubious legality, but worked most days offered.
  • when is/did everyone finishing up for Christmas?

I finish at 5:30 today until 30th. I am sooooooo board today, i got loads done while everyone else was at the Christmas lunch the other day but cant leave as my boss might have someone coming in me late that i would need to see.
Still working at the brothel then mate. Fair dos.

  • Tuesday meant to finish at 1, but I’ll be gone by 11. Out on the Monday evening so highly unlikely I will even make it in. Not back until 6th January. Cannot wait for almost two weeks off work.

last day in office today, work from home Monday, then back in the office next Tuesday (New Years Eve).

Been working 27 years and a week off at Xmas is the longest i've ever had. Can't wait.

Didn’t get as much backlog cleared as hoped and now panicking I’m not gonna get it all done on Monday :-(

Just left and on the train home.  Back Mon 20th Jan.  Onlly used 12 days leave.  One of the only advantages of working for a University.
I too work in a well known west end university but I have only just got home. Some of us have social obligations with colleagues that have to be met. So far I’ve met these obligations four times in the past week.
Best place I have ever worked.

Was scheduled to do both Xmas and boxing day this year.
Managed to get a swap for Xmas day back in the summer.
Got a call from a colleague on Wednesday desperate for me to cover him this Saturday night. So desperate was he that he's offered to do my Boxing day!
    Win win..
    Back on 27th

@JohnBoyUK are you obliged to use your leave when the Uni is closed for holidays?

Or anyone who works for a business that shuts down , I would be pissed off at having to use X amount of days leave at Christmas through no choice of my own or is a week off at Christmas just bonus days?

We’re forced to use leave between Xmas and new year. The principle is annoying but I’d always take it anyway so I don’t mind too much.
