Yes - all of the “creative” ways to lose expenditure are starting to unravel now. Think there was also a case of Tom Ince’s mum being paid 700k a year as a scout for one of the clubs he signed for..... madness

Shows you what a mug's game betting is when they have that much money to spunk away :)

Honestly. You put a tenner on someone to make the playoffs...

I know there's a lot of hand-wringing and concerns about us possibly underspending and struggling to agree contracts because we don't pay enough, but I really hope we never get drawn into all these games, running a club like some kind of dodgy tax evasion scam to get around financial fair play rules.

I'd genuinely rather watch us in League 2 than lose all sense of fairplay and dignity like that. It really does feel like we're getting into end times for a few clubs. Wednesday selling 15 year season tickets for the price of 10 is madness. Sure seems great now to keep you one step ahead of the law this year, but where are their revenues going to be in 5, 10 years time. Just delaying the inevitable, like a gambling addict pawning his wife's engagement ring for the money to back one more can't-lose tip.

Ripping the soul out of the game.

It does seem desperate on their part.

Saracens were docked 35 points recently for breaking the salary cap. Read today that there still doing it and may now get relegated.

Rugby authorities don't piss about do they.

Maybe she a better scout than his dad.

so Derby have broken FFP rules even before they signed Rooney, christ knows what their wage bill is like now !!
Not sure if it's been mentioned but Red32 are paying half his wages and he's a player-coach, I'm sure I read that coaches wages don't go towards FFP (would need to double check)

I think she worked for the academy, as that spending isn't included in FFP.

EFL is run on casino economics. How superbly ironic, paradoxical even, that this whole charade is underwritten by gambling interests, who of all people should understand the odds against achieving Championship success. Perhaps all the gambling plutocracy are running a colossal private book amongst themselves ....

Red32 have signed a record shirt deal to cover the excess wages , and Derby reckon that the increased commercial activities generated by Rooneys signing will cover the increased costs, and balance out the FFP implications. However with them being called up to see the headmaster over past issues ( they current investigation is into year ending 30th June 2018 ) they would be pretty silly to ensure this isnt 100% compliant

What is the answer in the Championship?  I mean real sustainable FFP similar to the original proposal is clearly sensible and helps to protect the longevity of clubs...BUT with parachute payments increasing and increasing it leaves a ridiculously unfair playing field which in 5-10 years could make the Championship increasingly uncompetitive as PL clubs turn profits meaning they are less likely to come down laboured with huge debts.
