Supporters can celebrate 100 years of The Valley with ‘A Night at The Museum’ on Thursday, March 5th, when the Charlton Museum, alongside the Valley Centenary Committee, presents 100 years of history of the club’s famous home.
The event will allow fans the opportunity to spend time at the club’s Museum which is situated at the top of the Covered End, browsing through decades of artefacts and memorabilia from the club’s 115-year history, before enjoying a series of presentations from museum trustees in the Fans’ Bar as they take us on an in-depth journey through the 100-year history of The Valley from the very beginning in 1919 to the present day.
Doors to the Museum open at 6pm, before the first of five presentations begin at 7.15pm with Museum Trustee and Valley Centenary Committee member Paul Baker talking us through the days before The Valley.
Then, trustee and historian, Clive Harris, will cover the building of The Valley between 1919 and 1939, while fellow trustee Ian Wallis will follow-up with ‘triumph and disaster’, covering the years between 1940 and 1980.
The penultimate presentation will see Museum Trustee Ben Hayes discuss the ‘exodus and return’ between 1985 and 1992, before the club’s Safety Officer, and also Museum Trustee, Mick Everett, talks about The Valley as it is today.
