RIP and God bless this colossus of a man. What a life.
Who has never sat at home as a kid on a bank holiday weekend watching Spartacus?
Probably Kirk Douglas!
He and Burt Lancaster could set the screen on fire just from the intensity of their performance. One of the true greats and his performances in Paths of Glory and Spartacus two of the best by any actor.
The last of a golden generation ... joins The likes of Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster, John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Richard Burton upstairs in Hollywood Heaven. RIP Spartacus, RIP
Hard to believe that after so many outstanding performances on film, the only Oscar that Kirk received was for 'Lifetime Achievement' Incidentally his second wife who he married in 1954 reached 100 years of age last year !!
Started watching Spartacus late this evening on Sky Cinema. Great film. Forgot it is three hours long but conveniently there is an intermission half way through. Will save the second half for tomorrow.
Spartacus was one of those films that had epic written all over it from start to finish. Also, 20,000 leagues under the sea was one of my favourites growing up.
