Matthews: 5 Let their winger get the better of him time and again. Non entity going forward. Lockyer: 6 Made some excellent blocks and was the best of an average defence. Pearce: 5 Struggled. Which seems to be a common theme for him. Purrington: 5.5 As Matthews but extra 0.5 for the goal Pratley: 6 Good first half when he was everywhere, but poor in the second as he appeared to tire as the game went on. Cullen: 6 Tried but seem to struggle to influence the game. Should have done better with two defensive midfielders behind him. Davis: 6 Unconvincing debut. Seemed a bit lost in the first half but was better in the second. With him and Pratley in the same team we are too defensive and have no attacking flair. Williams: 6.5 A real handful which is probably why they took him out every time he had the ball. Needs to try and ride some of the challenges rather than go down. Taylor: 6 Zero service but even then an average game. Allowed McLean to get ahead of him for the first goal. Green: 5 Thought he was poor and didn't seem to put much effort in. It says it all if I say I would rather have had Leko playing instead. Referee: 3 Should have clamped down on their cynical fouling early on. How he didn't book any Stoke players is beyond me.
