He was almost of a different age - a philantropist who quietly did what he did to help others, with no accompanying self aggrandishment. Never met him, but everyone who did says the same - a true gent.
He was a lovely man - I sat with him for lunch a couple of times. I think he told me that he had brothers and because they supported West Ham - he wanted to be different and so chose Charlton , he was actually a world renowned figure particularly for his charity work and in the Jewish community, if you google him you will grasp the extent of his good work and benevolence.
Now Sir Maurice is having lunch with Sebbi and they're probably discussing all things Charlton.
