Part three now available. This is all the Community Trust's work and not mine, we're just hosting it for them as we have access to the podcast feed - so I'm not being biased when I say it's really interesting and you should give them all a listen.

In the third part of the series, Steve Sutherland chats with Charlton legend Keith Peacock about his return to the Club at the start of the 1990’s, the appointment of joint managers, becoming reserve team manager, the impressive player recruitment at that time, the emerging young players, playing at Upton Park , the return to The Valley, the importance of team-bonding initiatives, the player recruitment in the 1997/98 season, the Play-Off Final against Sunderland, becoming assistant manager and the first season in the Premier League.

  • Thoroughly enjoying these. Thank you.
  • Part four is now out! Was originally planned to be a three-part series but Keith has so many stories that we're expecting at least five episodes now.

In the fourth part of the series, Steve Sutherland chats with Charlton legend Keith Peacock about the period from 1999 to 2006, returning to the Premier League at the first attempt, the growth of the club on and off the field, the important signings made at this time and the impact of players such as John Barnes, Paulo di Canio and Jorge Costa, spotting a future star of the future on a scouting trip to Argentina, the pre-season tour of China, the Club’s Centenary and the departure of Alan Curbishley.

Brilliant to hear there will be further episodes. For anyone who hasn't listened to any so far I highly recommend you do.
  • Fifth and final part of the series is here.

In today’s podcast, Keith and I discuss the period from 2006 to date; including leaving Charlton and unexpectedly joining up with Alan Pardew at West ham, reconvening the Curbishley, Peacock, Day partnership, the Tevez and Mascherano affair, losing 4-0 to Alan Pardew’s Charlton, returning to Charlton as Associate Director, taking charge of Charlton for two matches, the return of Chris Powell and winning the League One Championship, the turnover in managers, Lee Bowyer and the triumph at Wembley and the impact of the lockdown on football’s future.

  • I’ve listened to the first three and they are absolutely great. What an excellent storyteller Keith Peacock is and the podcast is really well hosted by Steve Sutherland. I’d never seen some of the players playing for us in the early and mid-60s who featured in episode 1 but it’s still riveting hearing about Keith playing with and against players like Eddie Firmani, Ron Saunders, Brian Clough, Billy Bremner, John Charles and Stanley Mathews. The stories also reflect and encapsulate the changes in the game over the course of Keith’s long career.

All in aid of a great cause too, given the fantastic work being done by the Community Trust. Looking forward to catching up with the last two episodes.
